유튜브의 발달장애 관련 영상에 나타난 장애관

국문 초록

발달장애인법 등과 같은 사회과학적 법제도의 정비에도 불구하고 발달장애인의 삶의 질 개선은 요원한것이 한국사회의 실정이다. 그 원인의 하나로 발달장애인의 권리 및 지원 필요성에 관한 사회적 합의의 부재에서 찾을 때, 그러한 사회적 합의를 이끌어낼 대전제로서 긍정적인 발달장애인관의 구축은 필수적이라할 수 있다. 여기에 일반대중이 가장 쉽게 접할 수 있는 매체로부터 한국사회의 발달장애관이 어떠한 다면적 실체를 보이는지에 관해 탐색할 당위성이 부여된다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 유튜브 동영상에 나타난발달장애관에 관해 Priestley(1998)의 다중 장애모델을 통해 고찰함으로써 발달장애관의 실체와 긍정적 변화를 유도하기 위한 시사를 얻고자 하였다. 유튜브 발달장애 동영상 중 최고 조회수를 가진 10편에 대한 분석 결과, 총 152개 scene 중 장애관이 드러나는 68개를 분석하였다. 다중 장애모델에 따라 분석한 결과, 개별적 유물론 47.06%(32개 scene), 개별적 관념론 38.24%(26개 scene), 사회적 유물론 5.88%(4개 scene), 사회적 관념론 8.82%(6개 scene)으로나타났다. 개별모델 대 사회모델의 비율은 85.30%대 14.70%로 개별모델이 압도적으로 높게 나타났다. 본 연구의 사회복지학적 시사로는 발달장애인의 지역사회에서의 자립생활을 위한 전제로 발달장애인에대한 긍정적 발달장애관 구축과 이를 위해 유튜브같은 접근성 높은 소셜 미디어 네트워크를 통한 인문학적소양의 필요성을 언급하였다.

영문 초록

Despite the development of social science law systems, such as the Developmental Disability Act, South Korean society has been unable to improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. As one of the causes, when searching from the absence of a social consensus on the need for the rights and support of persons with developmental disabilities, building a positive view of persons with developmental disabilities is essential as a major premise for deriving such a social consensus. To discover the multi-faceted entity in Korean society, a medium that is easily accessible to the general public is needed. This study analyzed video clips watched by worldwide video platform YouTube and examined the views for disabilities in the community of persons without disabilities through ‘Priestley’s multi-paradigm of disability model to find out the substance of developmental disabilities and to derive positive changes. This study classified 10 most-viewed YouTube video clips on developmental disabilities into 152 scenes, and analyzed total 68 scenes revealing views of disabilities (persons with disabilities). When classified by the multi-paradigm of disability model, there are 47.06% of individual materialist model (32 scenes), 38.24% of individual idealist model (26 scenes), 5.88% of social materialist model (4 scenes), and 8.82% of social idealist model (6 scenes). Comparing the ratio of individual (medical) model to social model, it is 85.30% to 14.70% with the ratio of individual model much higher than the other. Social welfare implications in this, study refer to the need to build positive developmental disabilities for the people with developmental disabilities and to provide humanities education through accessible social media networks such as YouTobe as a prerequisite for independence in their communities.
