목회자의 내담자 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 목회자가 내담자로서 상담을 받는 경험에 대해 심층적으로 탐구하고 그 의미를 이해하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 목사 안수 이후 3년 이상의 사역 경험이 있고, 10회기 이상 전문 상담을 받은 경험이 있는 남성 목회자 2인을 연구 참여자로 초대하여, 질적 연구방법의 하나인 내러티브 탐구 방법으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과로 도출된 참여자들의 내러티브의 주요 주제로는 첫째, ‘내담자로서 자신을 개방하는 것에 대한 딜레마를 경험함’이었으며, 이는 내면화된 개인의 신앙과 목회자라는 직분이 갖는 특성과 관련된 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째로, 참여자들은 상담을 받으면서 ‘목회자 직분이 곧 자기 자신이라는 인식에서 점차 벗어나, 목회자 직분을 갖고 살아가는 자신과 연약한 인간으로서의 자신의 모습을 분별하고, 보다 진솔하게 있는 그대로의 자신의 모습을 바라보게 됨’을 경험하였다. 세 번째로, 연구 참여자들은 ‘자신을 돌보는 내담자 경험을 성도들을 위한 돌봄 사역에 적용함으로써, 목회에 보다 유익이 됨’을 이야기하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로, 목회자들을 위한 상담 방안, 그리고 상담이 목회자들에게 개인적, 사역적 측면에서 공헌할 수 있는 바에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore and understand the meaning of a counselee experience that pastors had. This study was conducted, using narrative inquiry method, one of qualitative research methods. Two male pastors were selected as participants. By the criteria for participant’s selection, those were selected who had more than three years of ministry after the ordination, with a experience of having professional counseling for more than 10 sessions. The leitmotif from the narratives of the participants were as follows: First, “they were facing a dilemma about opening up their minds as a counselee.” It was related to their individual faith and characteristics of the ministry. Second, the participants gradually underwent a change, escaping from the obsession: “My social position as pastor is my identity.” Distinguishing their social position from the condition of weak human beings, they came to accept themselves as they are. Third, they mentioned that “a counselee experience was beneficial because it could be applied to the ministry.” Also discussed are counseling strategy for pastors, possible contribution of counseling to pastors in terms of personal life and ministry, based on these research results.
