국문 초록

본 연구는 VTS미술 감상교육을 통해 성인 지적장애인이 자신을 표현하는 방법과 시각적 의사소통 및 문해력을 배워 타인과 원만한 관계를 맺고 사회성을 기를 수 있 도록 하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 시각적 문해력, 시각적 사고 전략(VTS), 지적 장애인과 미술 감상에 대해 이론적으로 고찰한 후, VTS미술 감상교육 프로그램을 설계 및 진행하여 성인 지적장애인의 시각적 문해력에 미치는 영향을 현상학적으로 살펴보았다. 연구 참여자는 성인 지적장애인 2인으로, 수업이 이루어지는 동안 녹화 및 녹음, 프로그램 종료 후 심층 면담, 쓰기 활동지 등 다양한 형태의 자료를 수집하 였다. 연구의 방법은 질적 분석 방법으로 월코트(Wolcott, 1994)의 기술, 분석, 해 석의 절차에 따라 수집한 자료를 개방 코딩작업을 통해 범주화한 후 분석하여 결과 를 도출하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구의 VTS미술 감상교육은 성인 지적장애인의 시각 적 문해력에 유의미한 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 구체적으로는 시각 적 문해력의 하위 영역인 ‘지각적 감수성’, ‘미적 개방성’, ‘개인적 경험을 서사로 발 전’, ‘시각적 추론’, ‘의미 구성하기’의 각 요인이 유의미한 향상을 보인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on assisting the intellectually disabled adults to learn and adopt the ways to express oneself, the visual communication and literacy, and to develop relationship with the others and foster social skills, through Visual Thinking Strategies(VTS) art appreciation education. For this purpose, after theoretical considerations were given to visual literacy, VTS, art appreciation of the intellectually disabled adults, a VTS art appreciation education program was designed and carried out to study the phenomenal effect on the visual literacy of the intellectually disabled adults. The subjects in the study were two intellectually disabled adults, and various types of data were collected throughout the study, such as audio and visual recordings during the program, in-depth interviews and activity sheet fill-up at the completion of the program. The study has adopted the qualitative research method, and the conclusion was obtained by categorizing and analyzing through an open-coding process of the data that was collected through Wolcott’s (1994) process of technique, analysis and interpretation. In conclusion, it was possible to confirm that the VTS art appreciation education in this study has a significant effect on the visual literacy of the intellectually disabled adults. More specifically, the study showed a meaningful improvement in such factors as “intellectual sensitivity,” “aesthetic openness,” “developing a personal experience into narration,” “visual deduction,” and “formation of significance.”
