국문 초록

이 연구는 다종교사회에서 중층신앙을 하는 한국인의 현실을 감안하여 다종교교육의 가능성을 탐구한 것이다. 그리고 하나의 종교와 신앙을 강조하는 종단 상황과 둘 이상의 종교에 영향을 받는 신앙인의 처지에 주목한다. 한국은 다종교사회이고 한국인은 복수종교로부터 영향을 받고 있다. 한국의 종교문화를 살펴보면 다원성이 특징이고 다종교적 층위와 다양성을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 종교 간의 접촉으로 혼합현상이 나타났다. 이러한 한국의 다원적 종교문화에서 한국인의 종교체험은 중층적이다. 한국인의 신앙적 중층구조란 이러한 다원적 문화가 지닌 영성적 풍요와 그 창조적 적용으로 나타난 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그런데 한국인이 지닌 신앙적 중층구조는 다원성과 배타성 사이에서 정당한 위치를 찾지 못하고 있다. 이를 해결하려면 다원문화를 승인하고 수용하는 종교교육이 필요하다. 필자는 이러한 방향의 종교교육을 다종교교육으로 이해하였다. 다종교교육은 종교의 배타성과 종단 이기주의를 극복하고 이웃 종교에 대한 열린 자세를 지니도록 안내하는 것이어야 한다. 파울러와 모란에 따르면 진정한 다종교교육은 학습자가 이웃 종교에 관심을 보이는 성인의 단계에서 가능하다.

영문 초록

This study explored the possibility of multi-religious education considering the situation of Koreans who have multi-faith in a multi-religious society. This study also focuses on the situation of religious groups that emphasize one religion and faith, and the condition of believers affected by more than one religion. Korea is a multi-religious society and Koreans are influenced by multiple religions. If you look at the religious culture of Korea, you can find the characteristics of pluralism, multi-religious layers and diversity. In addition, you can find syncretism by religious encounters. Koreans have multiple religious experiences in religiously pluralistic culture. The multi-faith of Koreans is represented by the spiritual abundance and creative application of this pluralistic culture. However, the multi-faith of Koreans is floating between pluralism and exclusivity. We need a religious education that approves and accepts a pluralistic culture to solve this problem. I consider this religious education as multi- religious education. It should guide religious people to overcome religious exclusivity and selfishness and to be open to other religions. According to J. W. Fowler and G. Moran, true multi-religious education is possible at the level of adulthood where learners are interested in other religions.
