국문 초록

동료지원학습 (PAL)은 통합학급 음악 수업에서 학생들이 서로의 개별성을 수용하면서 함께 학습하는 방법을 찾아가는 기회를 제공할 수 있는 학습 방법이다. 특히, 다양한 교육적 요구를 지닌 동료 간의 PAL 활동은 학생들의 음악적 기술과 표현력, 사회성을 동시에 발달시킬 수 있는 유용한 학습 방법이 될 수 있다. 통합학급 음악 수업에서 가장 많이 권장할 수 있는 PAL의 두 가지 유형은 상호적 동료교수와 협동학습이다. 상호적 동료교수의 활용을 위해서는 우수한 학업성취나 인지능력을 가진 학생이 짝의 구성원이 되고, 각 학생이 교대로 교수자와 학습자 역할을 수행하며 참여해야 한다. 협동학습을 위해서는 장애학생에 대한 이해와 배려를 지닌 일반학생의 정의적 측면을 고려할 필요가 있으며, 모둠별로 공동의 학습 목표와 과제를 수행해야 한다. PAL의 개발을 위해 첫째, PAL 참여 학생 간의 구성과 각 학습자의 교육 요구에 따라 가장 적절한 학습 방법을 파악하고 선택하고, 둘째, 음악 교과가 제공할 수 있는 혜택과 장점을 결합하여 사전학습을 강화하고 심화하는 단계에서 PAL을 활용하며, 셋째, 교사들은 PAL의 조력자로서 통합학급 학생들을 위한 짝과 모둠을 육성하고 각 학생의 PAL 과정을 관찰하며 필요한 수업 지침을 전달하며 지속적인 커뮤니케이션이 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 통합학급 음악 수업을 위한 PAL의 유형과 구성 방식, PAL 도입을 위한 준비과정을 토대로 음악 학습 능력과 더불어 장애 유형에 따른 일반학생과의 사회적 통합을 함양할 수 있는 PAL의 개발 방안을 논의하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Peer-assisted learning (PAL) is a learning method that can provide students in inclusive music settings an opportunity to explore how to learn together while accepting each other’s individuality. In particular, PAL activities can help students with diverse educational needs develop their musical skills and expression and social skills simultaneously. The two types of PAL recommended for inclusive classrooms are reciprocal peer tutoring and cooperative learning. For reciprocal peer tutoring, each pair consists of one academically stronger student or has better cognitive abilities than the other and takes turns as tutor and tutee. For cooperative learning, it is necessary to consider the affective aspects of students without disabilities who demonstrate positive attitudes toward and work well with students with disabilities, and each cooperative group should work on the same learning goals and tasks. For developing PAL in inclusive music settings, it is imperative to figure out the configuration among PAL participating students and select the most appropriate learning method following each learner s educational needs. It is also recommended that PAL be adequately implemented in inclusive music settings to reinforce and strengthen prior learning combining the benefits and strengths of music subjects. Teachers, as facilitators, should also select and nurture the most suitable pairs and small groups for inclusion. Teachers should also observe each student s progress and continue to communicate with students to deliver the necessary instructional guidelines during PAL. This study presents the types and composition of PAL suitable for inclusive music settings and essential procedures for introducing PAL, and then discusses ways to advance PAL specific to different types of disabilities for social inclusion between students with and without various disabilities and as well as their musical learning.
