국문 초록

이 연구는 바울서신에 나타난 기도에 대해 독특한 묘사를 하고 있는 두 구절의 의미를 탐색한 것이다. 첫째는 로마서 8장 26-27절의 성령이 말할 수 없는 탄식에 대한 해석이다. 여기 ‘성령의 간구’는 흔히 성령에 의해 주어진 천사의 언어로 고린도전서 12-14장의 방언 은사의 회고적 요약이라 해석된다. 그러나 성령의 간구는 독립적이고 보편적으로 기도하는 사람의 외부에서 역사하며 신자의 내부에서 언어를 통제하지 않는다. 둘째는 방언으로 기도하면 영으로 기도하는 것이며 마음은 열매를 맺지 못하기에 통역해야 한다는 고린도전서 14장 13-15절이다. 이 구절은 기도하는 사람을 조종하는 신적 작인(作因)이 아닌 인지적이며 이성적인 인적 작인(作因)을 분명히 나타낸다. 방언으로 말하거나 기도할 때에도 성령은 신자를 조종하지 않고 그의 기도가 효과적으로 하나님 앞에 드려지도록 도우신다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the meaning of two passages which describe the puzzling expression about prayer represented in Pauline Epistles. The first is Rom 8:26-27 which addresses the intercession of the Spirit with his inexpressible groanings. Here ‘the intercession of the Spirit’ is often interpreted as a retrospective summary of speaking in tongues in 1 Cor 12-14. But the intercessional service of the Spirit is independent and universal, outside of the praying human agency, and it is not controlling at all putting the words into the believer’s mouth. The second is 1 Cor 14:13-15 which portrays “I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful, I will pray with my spirit, and I will also pray with my mind.” This passage clearly reveals not any controlling divine agency but a cognitive human agency. Even when people are praying or speaking in tongues, the Spirit helps in the intercession independently and enables the gift of tongues.
