국문 초록

본 연구에서는 부산교육종단연구 3차년도(2018) 자료를 이용하여 특성화고 재학생들의 차별 경험이 교사관계, 정신건강 문제를 매개로 학교만족도에 미치는 영향력을 확인하였다. 주요 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들의 차별 경험은 교사관계와 학교만족도 각각에 대해 부적 효과를 지니는 것으로 확인되었다. 이를 통해 교내에서 차별을 경험하고 있는 학생일수록 우호적인 교사관계를 형성하지 못하고 있을 뿐 아니라 학교만족도 수준도 낮아진다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 차별 경험은 교사관계를 매개로 학교만족도에 유의한 간접효과를 드러냈다. 즉 차별 경험을 많이 한 학생일수록 교사관계가 양호하지 못하고 이로 인해 학교만족도가 낮아질 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 차별 경험이 교사관계 및 정신건강을 매개로 학교만족도에 미치는 영향력을 보여주는 이중매개효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이는 학생들이 차별 경험이 많을수록 교사와의 관계를 부정적으로 형성하게 하며 이러한 긍정적이지 못한 교사관계가 학생들의 정신건강 문제를 심화시켜 결과적으로 학교만족도도 낮아진다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 토대로 학생존중 학교 문화 조성 및 교사의 역할을 중심으로 학생들의 차별 경험의 부정적인 영향력을 개선할 수 있는 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Drawing on the 3rd wave data from Busan Education Longitudinal Study in 2018, This study investigates the effect of discrimination experiences of vocational high school students on school satisfaction through teacher relationships and mental health. Results of the study are as follows. First, experiences of discrimination have a significant negative effect on both teacher relations and school satisfaction. This means that students who experienced discrimination at school are not only unable to form friendly teacher relationships, but also are less satisfied with school. Secondly, experiences of discrimination have a significant indirect effect on school satisfaction through teacher relationships. In other words, the more students who experienced discrimination, the worse the teacher relationship and the lower school satisfaction may be. Thirdly, as a result of dual mediation effect analysis, teacher relationship and mental health mediated in the relationship between Experiences of discrimination and school satisfaction. This means that the more students experience discrimination, the more negatively they form their relationship with the teacher, and these undesirable teacher relationships weaken the mental health of the students, which reduces school satisfaction. Based on these findings, policy implications for improving student discrimination issues are discussed, focusing on the creation of a school culture that respects students and the role of teachers.
