국문 초록

본 연구는 수치심, 죄책감과 우울의 관계를 성별에 따라 알아보고 선행연구들을 토대로 자기용서가 수치심, 죄책감과 우울의 관계를 매개하는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 및 수도권, 충청 지역의 만 18세 이상 성인 남녀 573명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 기술 통계와 상관관계를 분석하였고, 중다회귀분석을 통해 매개효과를 검증하였다. 분석결과, 수치심, 죄책감, 우울에서 유의한 성차를 보였으며, 여성이 남성보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 수치심은 남녀 모두에게 우울과 정적 상관이 있었다. 죄책감과 우울은 여성이 통계적으로 유의한 상관을 보였으나 정도는 미미하였고, 남성은 상관이 없었다. 셋째, 수치심과 우울에서 자기용서의 부분매개효과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 수치심과 죄책감이 서로 다른 정서로 자기용서와 우울에 다른 영향을 끼침을 보여주었고, 수치심과 우울의 관계에서 자기용서의 부분매개효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 연구의 의의와 제한점, 후속연구를 위한 제언 등을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This research aimed at figuring out whether shame, guilt, and depression show a gender difference and examining whether self-forgiveness has a mediating effect on the relationship between shame, guilt and depression, based on the previous researches. For this research, 573 men and women aged 18 or older were surveyed in Seoul, the metropolitan area around Seoul, and Chungcheong Province. The collected data were analyed using descriptive statistics correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis for the mediating effects. The results are as follows. First, a meaningful gender difference among shame, guilt, and depression was observed, which means that women showed higher score of each than men. Second, shame had a positively meaningful correlation with depression both in men and in women; however, guilt had a statistically meaningful but slight correlation with depression only in women. Third, self-forgiveness had a partial mediating effect between shame and depression. This research found that shame and guilt as a distinct emotion played a different role in relations of self-forgiveness and depression and that. self-forgiveness had a partial mediating effect between shame and depression. Based on the results, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed and the suggestions for the follow-up study were presented.
