수양개 Ⅵ지구 2문화층의 좀돌날 제작기술과 작업과정 복원

국문 초록

좀돌날문화는 후기 구석기시대에 북반구를 중심으로 광범위하게 성행한 수렵채집문화이다. 동북아시아에서는 후기 구석기시대 말기에 속하는 많은 출토사례가 확인되고 있다. 좀돌날문화를 살펴보는데 가장 특징적인 정보를 제공해주는 것은 좀돌날몸돌이다. 좀돌날몸돌의 형태는 각 유적마다 다양하며, 심지어 한 유적 내에서도 여러 가지 형태가 나타나는 복잡한 양상을 보이고 있다. 이는 한 유적에 한 가지 기술만으로 구성되어 있는 것이 아니라 복수의 기술특징을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 최근에 조사된 단양 수양개유적 Ⅵ지구 2문화층에서는 우리나라 최대규모의 좀돌날 제작 관련유물들이 출토되어 주목을 받고 있다. 특히 출토된 좀돌날몸돌에서 다양한 기술적 특징이 관찰되며, 일련의 좀돌날 제작과정을 복원할 수 있었다. 수양개 Ⅵ지구에서는 MIS 3기(3․4문화층)∼MIS 2기(1․2문화층)에 해당하는 4개의 후기 구석기시대 문화층이 확인되었다. 모두 40,805점의 유물이 출토되었으며, 2∼3문화층에서는 석기가 집중적으로 출토되는 석기군집이 여러 곳에서 확인되었고, 문화층별로 석기 구성 양상에서 확연하게 차이를 나타냈다. 2문화층은 조사범위의 중앙을 중심으로 유물이 밀집된 양상을 보이며, Ⅵ지구 전체 출토유물의 절반 이상을 차지하는 21,904점의 유물이 출토되었다. 좀돌날 제작 관련유물은 모두 1,062점이며, 좀돌날몸돌 때림면 스폴이 370점으로 가장 많다. 다음으로 좀돌날 264점, 좀돌날몸돌 원형 146점, 작업면 격지 145점, 좀돌날몸돌 134점 등이다. 좀돌날몸돌의 형태는 쐐기형․배모양․능주형의 3가지로 분류되는데, 이 문화층 출토 좀돌날몸돌은 양면 혹은 단면으로 몸체 조정된 쐐기형 좀돌날몸돌과 배모양 좀돌날몸돌을 중심으로 구성된다. 이러한 좀돌날몸돌은 형태적 특징으로 다른 유형으로 분류되지만, 각 개체의 제작과정에서는 몸체조정과 때림면 및 작업면 준비, 좀돌날떼기 방법에서 많은 공통점을 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

In the Late Paleolithic of Korea, the microblade culture has shown diverse types of microcores which reflect technical characteristics for microblade production. In the recently research, a large amount of microblade assemblage was excavated at the Suyanggae Loc.Ⅵ, C.L.2(Lee et al. 2018), which presented a new research framework to demonstrate the problems and issues of previous research. This paper will attempt to categorize types of microcores based on characteristics of microblade production technology, and seek to understand the microblade production process of Suyanggae Loc.Ⅵ, CL.2 in Dannyang, Korea. The Suyanggae Paleolithic complex includes 5 paleolithic localities within 5km along the South Han River. The paleolithic complex has been investigated through 13 full-scale excavations all of which were salvation excavation. Suyanggae Locality 6(SYG-6) was found to contain 4 cultural layers(CL) in the Upper Paleolithic, corresponding to the MIS 3 to MIS 2. Where all 40,805 pieces of artifacts were unearthed, there were identified variety of lithic cluster from the CL 2 and 3, showing distinctive aspects of lithic composition according to CL. CL. 2 shows high concentration of artifacts in the middle of excavated area, yielding 21,904 pieces that is largest number among cultural layers. Most of Artifacts are related to tool-making where blade and microblade manufacturing appears as the mainly utilized technology. Give various types of microblade-core, microblade and spall, it is expected to provide crucial data to reconstruct the microblade technology. 134 pieces of microblade-cores, 264 pieces of microblades and 370 pieces of microblade core spalls are discovered. Main raw materials are shale, and obsidians were also used for microblades production. The microblade-cores are classified into 3 types; type 1 as edge-shaped, type 2 as boat-shaped, and type 3 as conical-shaped. In this site, the main types of microblade-cores are edge-shaped or boat-shaped, but there are common characteristic in production process.
