미술교육에서 인성교육의 의미 고찰

국문 초록

시대별로 원하는 인재상에 따라 인성교육의 의미와 개념에 차이가 있어 왔는데, 현재 우리나라는 국가적으로 창의·인성교육의 활성화에 역점을 두는 만큼 이를 활성화하기 위한 다양한 방안들이 장려되고 있다. 본 연구도 이러한 노력 중의 하나로, 국어, 사회, 도덕, 기술·가정, 음악, 미술, 체육, 창의적 체험활동에서 이루어지고 있는 인성교육의 덕목을 상호 비교해보고 학교교육 내에서 활성화하기 위하여 제안된 연구 가운데 미술교과 내용을 추출하여 제시한 것이다. 각 교과에서 의미하는 인성교육은 그 적용 목적이나 내용, 범위 등에 차이가 있겠으나, Josephson Institute of Ethics (2009)의 인성교육에서 제시한 6가지 기본 덕목, 즉, ‘신뢰성’, ‘존경’, ‘책임’, ‘공정성’, ‘배려’, ‘시민의식’을 모든 교과 공통의 준거 틀로서 적용되었으며, 미술교과도 이에 근거하였다. 미술교과에서는 위의 기본 덕목 외에 교과 특성을 고려하여 ‘심미성’을 추가로 제시하였으며, 미술교과의 인성교육 덕목과 현행 2007 개정 미술과 교육과정과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 교과별로 인성교육의 중요도나 역할은 다를 수 있겠으나 창의교육과 더불어 인성교육을 강조하는 이 때 미술교과에서 바라보는 인성교육의 의미와 역할을 고찰하고 학교교육에 이를 적용하기 위한 방안을 모색하는 것은 의미 있는 일이라 할 것이다.

영문 초록

These days human beings have to face with a variety of moral problems such as rule-breaking and dishonesty, violent crimes and self-destructive behaviors. To overcome this crisis, schools, home and communities altogether must get involved in character education. This study was planned by one of a research team of KICE(Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation) from 7 different school subjects(‘Korean Language’, ‘Social Studies’, ‘Ethics’, ‘Applied Science’·‘Home Economics’, ‘Music’, ‘Visual Arts’, and ‘Physical Education’) and 1 non-subject(‘Creative Experience Activities’). The purpose of the study was 1) to understand the meaning and the responsibilities of character and character education in school art education, 2) to investigate the sub elements of character education in art education in comparison to the ‘Six Pillars of Character’ (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship) of Josephson Institute of Ethics(2009), 3) to search for its relation with the sub elements of character education in art education and the current 2007 Rev. Korean National Art Curriculum, and 4) to present excellent examples of elementary and secondary-level art activities with character education. In conclusion, ‘Aesthetics’, ‘Trustworthiness’, ‘Respect’, ‘Responsibility’, ‘Fairness’, ‘Caring’ and ‘Citizenship’ were presented as the sub elements of character education in art education, and the characteristics and sub elements of character education was deeply related to art education for human education. For its implication and implementation, the importance and curriculum plan for character education in art education should be recognized and developed.
