국문 초록

수묵채색화는 길고 부드러운 모필을 이용하여 다양한 필획과 먹의 농담 변화로 표현할 수 있는 회화양식이다. 물이 번지고 스미는 작용은 경이롭지만 표현방법과 기능이 익숙하지 않아 학생들을 당황하게 한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 교과서에는 주로 농담을 단계적으로 나타내어 그리는 기술적인 방법을 제시하고 있지만 표현의 다양성을 저해한다. 이 연구는 대나무, 돌, 사과를 관찰하여 스스로 필법, 묵법, 채색법을 단계적으로 익히고 나서 자신이 선택한 대상에 응용하여 작품을 완성하는 수업 사례를 정리한 것이다. 이 수업의 교육적 의의는 첫째, 관찰을 통해 대상이 갖고 있는 특성과 의미를 탐구할 수 있었다. 둘째, 단계적 표현으로 스스로 작품을 완성하면서 자신감을 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, 기술적인 재현보다 대상에 자신을 투영하여 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 자기이해 혹은 공감과 소통의 미술을 경험하고 인식할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The wide range of brush strokes and shades attained by a long and soft brush makes Sumuk-color painting highly expressive. The interaction of ink and paper - the spreading and permeating - is marvelous, but the difficulty of technical control frustrates students. Textbooks typically address this challenge by suggesting a stepwise procedure for developing shades, but such a rigid procedure reduces the diversity of expression. This paper describes a case study in which students acquired techniques of brush stroke, ink, and color through observing and painting bamboos, rocks, and apples, respectively, and then applied these techniques to objects of their choice. The following pedagogical significance was observed. First, through careful observation, students learned the characteristics and meanings of their objects. Second, by gradually acquiring techniques and making finished products, students gained confidence. Third, students focused more on expressing themselves in their objects rather than realistically representing them. Lastly, students gained better understanding of themselves and experienced art as medium of empathy and communication.
