국문 초록

언어의 한계에 대한 관심은 그 한계 너머의 ‘말할 수 없는 것’, 즉 신비적인 것을 인식하고 전달하려고 하는 인간의 본성적인 경향성에서 비롯된다. 칸트 철학의 의의는 인식의 한계에 대한 심오한 통찰로 언어의 한계 문제를 이전의 철학에서 보다 한층 더 날카롭게 부각시키고, 그렇게 함으로써 그 한계 너머의 이념을 삶과 교육의 기준으로 확립시키는 데에 결정적인 공헌을 하였다는 데에 있다. 키에르케고르는 칸트의 업적을 바탕으로 하여, 구체적인 삶의 과정에서 개인의 심성이 어떻게 이념에 합치될 수 있는가를 밝혔다. 키에르케고르의 간접전달은 언어가 심성의 함양에 기여하기 위하여 어떤 조건을 갖추어야 하는가를 예시함으로써, 언어의 가능성을 여실하게 보여준다고 볼 수 있다. 언어의 가능성의 실현은 언어의 한계에 대한 날카로운 의식을 선결 조건으로 요청하며, 이 점에서 키에르케고르의 사상은 칸트의 선험 철학에 의존한다.

영문 초록

It is a natural tendency for man to strive to know and tell what cannot be said , beyond the limit of language. Hence, the problem of what limits language has been construed as a key issue in almost all philosophical discourses. Kant s transcendental philosophy provided a most keen awareness of the limit of language by his famous critique of reason. The transcendental idea can be interpreted as identifying what cannot be said. On the basis of Kant s transcendental philosophy, Kiekegaard interpreted the transcendental idea as object of personal appropriation and criterion of human becoming. Kierkegaard s indirect communication can serve as a method to lead the recipient toward a critical point on the limit of language and existence in order to choose the religious idea as his own existential truth. It exemplifies the possibility of language for edification. Using language for edification requires a keen awareness of the limit of language as a postulate. In this respect, Kierkegaard can be said to be indebted to Kant.
