프뢰벨 교육이론에서의 종교와 교육

국문 초록

프뢰벨의 교육이론은 학교에서 가르치고 배우는 세부적 지식과 아이의 마음에 ‘신적 정신’이 들어있다는 생각을 기초로 하여 성립된다. 프뢰벨 교육이론의 핵심개념인 ‘신적 정신’은 칸트의 인식론에 기초하여 해석될 때 특정 종교에서 취급되는 개념이 아닌 교육학적 개념으로 이해될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 ‘신적 정신’을 칸트의 아프리오리로 해석함으로써 종교와 교육의 관련문제를 해명하고자 하였다. 프뢰벨의 교육이론은 지식을 배워서 인간의 마음이 ‘신적 상태’에 이른다는 것에 대한 이론적 설명이다. ‘신적 상태’는 인간이 상상할 수 있는 가장 선한 상태라는 점에서 프뢰벨의 교육이론은 그 자체로 도덕교육이론이라고 말할 수 있다. 다만 프뢰벨에게 있어서의 도덕은 도덕적 행위를 겨냥하고 있는 것이 아니라 도덕적 행위로 표현되기 이전의 마음을 겨냥하고 있는 것이라는 점에 유의할 필요가 있다. 우리가 도덕 교육을 도덕적 행위의 실천에 한정하지 않는다면 프뢰벨의 교육이론은 도덕교육의 또 한 차원을 보여준다.

영문 초록

Froebel s educational theory is based on the idea that the Divine Spirit is expressed in school-subjects and child s mind. Only by Interpreting Froebel s educational theory in the light of Kantian philosophy, the Divine Spirit that is a core concept of Froebel s educational theory is understood not as the religious concept but the educational. By showing that the Divine Spirit expressed in school-subjects and child s mind is exactly a priori as pure subjectivity , this study is aimed to clarify the meaning of religion in Froebel s educational theory. The meaning of religion in Froebel s educational theory is not different from that of education. Froebel s educational theory is a theoretical explanation on realization the Divine Spirit (or the Divine State) through the acquisition of knowledges. The State that the Divine Spirit is realized in mind is the most perfect state we are thinkable. In this point, Froebel s educational theory is said in itself a moral educational theory. However, we have only to pay attention to the following, this is, the moral in Froebel s makes target not of moral behaviours but of mind in the utmost state. If we only are not regard the moral education as practice of moral behaviours, Froebel s educational theory reveals another dimention of a moral education in sense that it shows the relationship of the Divine Spirit and school-subjects.
