국문 초록

쉴러는 프랑스 혁명 이후 혼란에 빠진 정치적 상황을 극복하는 방안으로 ‘교육’을 제시하였다. 교육학자가 아니었던 그가 제시한 정치개혁의 유일한 방안으로서의 교육은 정치 제도의 개혁을 위한 교육도 아니요, 정치가들을 위한 교육도 아닌, 인간의 마음을 올바른 방향으로 이끌기 위한 교육이다. 쉴러는, 인간의 마음이 본래의 공명정대한 마음에 도달한 상태를 ‘아이스테티카’ 상태라고 상정하고, 인간의 마음을 올바른 방향으로 이끄는 교육을 ‘아이스테티카 교육’이라고 규정하였다. 인간의 마음이 본래의 순수한 마음 상태인 아이스테티카의 상태에 도달하도록 하는 아이스테티카 교육은 인간의 심성함양을 가능하게 한다는 점에서 ‘심성교육’이라고 할 수 있다. 쉴러는 현실에 직면한 정치적 문제점에 대한 부분적인 해결책은 완전한 정치개혁의 방안이 될 수 없다는 점을 강조하며, 그러한 심성교육, 즉 모든 정치적 상황을 아우를 수 있는 원천인 아이스테티카의 상태에 도달하도록 하는 것만이 올바른 정치개혁의 방안이 된다고 생각한 것이다. 이 점에서 만물의 원천으로서의 아이스테티카의 상태에 도달하도록 하는 ‘아이스테티카 교육’, 즉 ‘심성교육’은 올바른 정치개혁의 유일한 방안으로서의 ‘정치교육’이 된다고 보아야 한다. 또한 심성교육과 정치교육은 인간의 마음을 올바른 방향으로 이끄는 것을 목적으로 한다는 점에서, ‘교과’공부 특히 모든 교과공부의 근본이 되는 ‘도덕교과’공부(도덕교육)와 다르지 않다고 보아야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

F. Schiller suggested the education as a valid method for overcoming the confusion of Europe after the French Revolution. The education that Schiller who was not a pedagogist proposed plays a role in leading human mind to the ideal state. He regarded that the ideal state is Aestheica , and considered that the education for leading human mind to the ideal state is aesthetic education . The aesthetic education which is leading human mind to the ideal state means the education for cultivation of mind . In the 18th century, Schiller wanted to make a perfect plan for the political reform, but he couldn t find the proper solution in real political condition. Because the real political condition is very complicated to solve various small political problems that occur from place to place. At last, he realized that the Ideal State can be established by moving human mind to ideal condition such as Aesthetica that is the essence of all political situations. Therefore the education as cultivation of mind for leading human mind to ideal state is not different with political education . In this respect, the French Revolution could not help breaking out because the political education at that time was separated from the cultivation of mind. The cultivation of mind is a purpose of aesthetic education and political education . Furthermore, it can be the purpose of studying a subject , especially the moral subject (moral education) which is the foundation of all subjects. Therefore the moral education might be the same to aesthetic education and political education .
