칸트의 선험철학에 비추어 본 마음의 발달의 자유와 필연성

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 교육을 통한 마음의 ‘자유로우면서 필연적인’ 발달이 모순처럼 보일지 몰라도 충분한 근거가 있다는 점을 칸트의 선험철학에 비추어 해명하기 위한 것이다. 그의 선험철학에 비추어 볼 때, 인간의 사고와 행위에는 경험적인 것에 구애되지 않으면서 그것의 선험적 근저를 이루는 측면으로서 ‘마음의 자유’가 있다. 이 마음의 자유는 자연에 관한 이해와 탐구의 이론적 원천일 뿐만 아니라, 도덕적 행위를 이끄는 실천적 힘이다. 나아가서 자연의 반성을 위한 거울이 됨으로써 자연 너머의 초감성적 이념에 대한 심미적 판단과 목적론적 판단의 원동력이 되고, 인간의 모든 이론적․실천적 활동에 대한 비판적 자기검사의 원천이 됨으로써 자연을 넘어 진선미성의 이념을 추구하는 이성의 숙명적 과업이 마음의 자유에서 필연적으로 따라 나오는 숭고한 일임을 일깨운다. 이러한 점은, 교육을 통한 마음의 발달은 마음의 자유에서 비롯되어서 이 자유가 이성의 자유임을 깨닫고 필연적으로, 진선미성이라는 이성의 이념 아래에서 오늘날 교과의 핵심을 이루는 학문, 도덕, 예술, 종교에 입문하는 일임을 말해 준다. 그러므로 교육을 통한 마음의 자유로우면서 필연적인 발달의 파라독스적 양상은 오류가 아니라 교육받은 마음의 신비이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the sufficient ground of which freedom and necessity of the development of mind through education do not contradict each other unlike the appearance, from the viewpoint of Kant s transcendental philosophy. In view of his philosophy, rather, the paradoxical aspect is the basic character of the educated mind in the following way: freedom of mind(reason) in human thinking and moral conduct is conceptually distinct from empirical or sensible particulars in nature, and further, turns out the transcendental basis on which all things in nature are determined necessarily, and hence meaningfully. This freedom is the necessarily intelligible cause of understanding and theoretical inquiry on them, which can contribute to the establishment of its own objective domain of theory, in relation to empirical laws from the concept of nature. Also, it is the necessarily practical power by which all the empirical and behavioral aspects in appearance are to be subsumed into sensible schemas of moral conduct, which can realize its other objective domain of moral practice, in relation to a moral law from free mind as such. Moreover, in reflective judgement entitled to have some subjective territory in an intermediary between the two domains, it plays necessarily a role as a mirror in which reflects a light beyond sensible nature, from a certain supersensible Idea, called Truth-Goodness-Beauty-Holiness , and hence the human being can look back on oneself in the light, and then cannot but have some intellectual feeling of the sublime about rational freedom and vocation toward the Idea, and lastly can synthesize one s own theoretical and practical activities under critical self-test and pure reason s belief in the Idea. In this way, the paradoxical aspect is not a logical fallacy or a sophistry but a holy fact of the educated mind , because education is the human being s autonomously intellectual activities toward the Idea, and at the same time next generations continuous initiation into the human public tradition of the activities of Science, Morality, Arts, and Religion which are the essence of nowadays school subjects unlike the seemingly.
