국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 원효 인식론의 특징을 밝히는 데에 있다. 본 연구에 의하면, 원효 인식론의 특징은 수행론-지관수행, 상분과 견분의 관련-과의 관련을 염두에 두고 특히 말나식에 주목했다는 점이다. 원효는 우리의 인식은 분석적으로 규정되어 그 성격을 명확히 할 필요도 있지만, 한편으로 인식의 성격을 제대로 드러내기 위해서는 그 질적 변화[전의(轉依)]가 어떻게 가능한가에 대해 설명할 수 있어야 한다는 입장을 표명한 것으로 보인다. 말하자면, 우리의 인식은 그 성격에 따라 의식, 말나식, 아려야식 등으로 구분하여 구체적으로 규정될 필요가 있지만, 한편으로는 제식들의 관계를 통해 ‘형이상학적 마음’의 회복-암마라식의 확립, 즉 일심(一心)-이 ‘어떻게 가능한가’를 설명할 수 있어야 한다. 그렇지 않을 경우 인식론은 우리의 ‘삶’과의 관련을 제대로 설명할 수 없으며, 또한 마음의 역동적 성격을 제대로 규명할 수 없다는 점에서 온전한 마음이론으로서 상당 부분 미달할 수밖에 없다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the character of Wonhyo’s yogācāra Buddhist practice. According to this study, Wonhyo’s yogācāra Buddhist practice is relation to epistemology. This epistemological practice is composed to ‘concentration and sapience’[止觀, objective-subjective aspect of recognition]. In particular, the feature of Wonhyo’s epistemology is that he pays attention to ‘manas’[末那識, the deep dimension of recognition]. According to Wonhyo’s perspective, we should to explain what the recognition of men is changed. This perspective is that we have to work out the implications of yogācāra epistemology. So to speak, our recognition is to prescribed by analystic method, but that is to explained by practical method. Our recognition is necessary to analyzed by characteristic fuction. For all that, our mind is dynamic mechanism. Therefore, If we don’t explain that mechanism, epistemology is not related our life. Accordingly, as more completed theory, epistemology is interpretated in practical category[metapraxis, establishing metaphysical mind]. As this point, Wonhyo’s theory is a good counterproposal.
