계모이야기의 억압구조와 생태주의 서사 원리, 그리고 쾌(快)의 회복

국문 초록

이 글은 구비문학에서 생태주의의 이치를 발견하고자 계모이야기에 주목하였다. 막연한 판타지로 평가되었던 옛이야기의 원리에 대하여 생태주의적 철학으로 그 현실성을 채우고, 옛이야기를 통해서 생의 에너지를 충족하는 원리를 탐구하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이었다. 그래서 우리에게 가장 정서적이고 윤리적인 인간관계인 ‘가족관계’에서, 그리고 가장 인자한 모습으로 우리의 성장에 큰 힘을 기여하는 ‘어머니’의 형상에서 과잉억압의 실체를 발견하고 그 억압을 정당화해온 근간을 고찰했다. <콩쥐와 팥쥐>, <버들도령>, <간 뺏길 뻔한 전처아들>, <문전본풀이>에서 개인의 욕망 충족을 위해 자행되는 계모의 악행을 ‘과잉억압’으로 보고, 이를 묵인하거나 적극 동참하는 아버지의 역할을 과잉억압을 정당화하는 사회구조적인 근간이라고 분석하였다. 그리고 자연 재해나 자연의 선물로 그려지는 옛이야기 결말이 현실적이지 못하다는 편견에서 벗어나 ‘억압하는 삶의 종결은 자연적 소멸에 있고, 억압구조가 해체되면 자연적 풍요가 도래한다’는 생태주의적 서사 원리로 계모이야기를 살펴보았다. 특히 <문전본풀이>의 과잉억압을 해체하는 ‘잔혹한 몸짓’에서 신화적 의미를 발견하고, 가택신들의 좌정 장면을 수평적이고 민주적인 형태의 생태주의적 삶의 모습으로 보며 자연성 회복의 인과관계를 설명했다. 또한 생태주의 서사는 ‘과잉억압의 지속 → 불쾌의 누적 → 과잉억압의 해체 → 쾌의 회복’이라는 감정 변화를 추동하는데, 과잉억압의 해체가 잔혹하고 원시적인 몸짓일수록 더욱 묘한 쾌감이 들고 그 감각적 체험의 깊이 또한 깊어진다고 논의했다. 이러한 카타르시스와 정화와 쾌의 회복은 우리로 하여금 생의 에너지를 충족하게 하는 서사의 힘이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The present article focuse on stepmother stories, aiming tp discover an ecological philosophy in oral literature. This paper aims to infuse the reality of an old story, previously considered a vague fantasy, with an ecological philosophy, using it to explore the principle of satisfying the energy of life focusing on the symbolism of the “institutional” or “fake mother” stepmother stories addressed the reality of overrepression and the mechanisms used to justify it. The stepmother s evil behavior was violence arising from the desire to eliminate her husband’s previous wife and to establish her own position within the patriarchal family, this excessive oppression reflects the greed of an individual who has nothing to do with family management or the family’s livelihood. It is difficult for the ex-wife to escape from domination and subordination, given the father s patriarchal authority and sexual patriarchal ethics. The father tolerates or actively participates in the oppression and enacting violence against the stepmother, this pattern is known as patriarchy and “filial piety”. It can be said that this system provided a foundation for excessive repression, allowing tstepmothers to be abused in the name of family ethics. The end of the old story is not considered realistic. However, the Ecological Story Principle can explains this causal relationship. The repressive life naturally disappear; once the structure of repression is dismantled, the natural quality of life is restored. In particular, depicts the process of dismantling surplus repression with cruel gestures, while the house gods symbolize horizontal and democratic forms of ecological life. This can described as a mythical imagining of surplus repression, deconstruction, and natural recovery. The narrative context allows us to achieve catharsis and recover the emotional value recovery of pleasure.
