소설, 아몬드(2017)의 내러티브에 나타난 두 청소년 인물의 성격 형성 과정 비교 – Bowlby의 애착이론을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 손원평의 소설, 아몬드에 나타난 두 명의 청소년 인물, 즉 윤재와 이 수를 가족과의 애착 관계적 관점으로 분석을 한 바 세 가지의 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 태생적으로 감정 표현의 문제점을 지니고 있는 윤재의 성격이 어머니와 할머니의 ‘정서적 안정성’에 기초한 보살핌과 관심에 의해 새롭게 형성되고 발전된 모습을 보이는 반면, 이수의 거칠고 반항적인 성격은 어린 시절 납치되어 실종 된 이후 또다시 버림받을 수 있다는 두려움에 대한 보호기제와 주변의 폭력적 상황에서 기인한 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 윤재라는 인물이 긍정적인 애착관계로 후천적으로나마 감정 표현 방법을 학습하면 서 안정적인 청소년으로 성장하는가 하면, 납치를 당한 후 간신만고 끝에 집으로 돌아온 이수는 여전히 공격적 성향을 표출하면서 소년원 선배인 철사에게로 회귀하는 퇴행적 행 동을 보인다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 일반적으로 애착이라고 하면 인생 초기 영아기 때 부모-자녀 간의 애착관계를 뜻하는 것으로 알려져 있지만, 위의 두 청소년 인물을 통해 애착관계가 인간 삶의 전 생애 주기 동안의 대인관계, 나아가 세대 간 대물림으로 이어질 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 특히 부모-자녀와의 관계에서의 애착뿐 아니라 청소년기의 친구 애착, 교사 애착을 통해서도 두 청소년 인물들이 정서적 측면은 물론 신체적인 건강 을 회복하고 과거의 아픈 기억으로부터 치유될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed two adolescent characters, which were shown in Sohn Wonpyeong s novel titled Almond, namely, Yun-Jae and Yi-Su, from the perspective of an attachment relationship with a family. Thus, three conclusions could be elicited. First, the character of Yun-Jae, who has an original problem of emotional expression, showed the image of having been newly formed and developed by care and attention based on emotional stability in his mother and grandmother. On the other hand, Yi-Su s wild and rebellious character could be known to have resulted from a protective mechanism on a fear as saying of being able to be abandoned once again after having been kidnapped and disappeared in childhood, and from a violent situation around. Second, the character named Yun-Jae grows into stable youth with learning a method of emotional expression even if being just acquired by a positive attachment relationship. On the contrary, Yi-Su, who came back home after a great struggle following having been abducted, could be realized to show regressive behavior, which returns to Cheol-Sa who is a senior at Youth Detention Center, with expressing an aggressive tendency as ever. Third, attachment is generally known to mean an attachment relationship between a parent and a child in infancy as the early days of life. But through two adolescent characters in the above, the attachment relationship could be learned to be capable of leading to personal relations during the whole of the human life-span, and further to inter-generational inheritance.
