다문화실천가의 문화적 역량형성에 대한 이해

국문 초록

이 연구는 다문화실천가들의 문화적 역량 형성과정을 이해하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 심층면접을 통한 질적 연구방법으로, 자료수집은 2012년 4월부터 2012년 7월까지 일대일 심층면접을 통해 이루어졌으며, 7인의 다문화실천가들이 연구에 참여하였다. 연구결과 의미 있는 진술들은 17개의 초점의미로 구분되었으며, 최종적으로 2개의 영역 10개의 주제를 도출되었다. 첫째, 다문화 실천의 의미와 일에 주는 영향과 관련한 영역에서는 문화와 사람에 대한 이해의 폭이 넓어짐, 더 큰 세상과 문화로의 삶의 영역 확대, 스트레스, 보람과 뿌듯함 등의 4개의 주제가 도출되었다. 둘째, 문화적 역량형성과정과 관련한 영역에서는 호기심과 준비 또는 능력의 부족 경험, 문화적 편견의 수정 및 문화적 인식 증대를 위한 노력, 문화적 인식 및 문화적 지식의 축적, 문화적 기술 습득을 위한 노력, 귀납적 학습으로 반성적 고찰, 역량 있는 행동과 몰입의 문화적 통찰 등의 6가지의 주제가 도출되었다. 문화적 역량의 구성요소 중 지식과 태도는 같은 발달 수준에 있지 않을 수 있으며, 일련의 문화적 형성과정을 거쳐 다문화 실천기술이 형성되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 문화적 인식과 수용을 위한 이주민과 내국인을 위한 교육 및 지원체계 개발에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the forming process about cultural competence among the service providers in multi-cultural settings. The participants for this study were 7 women who have been working in welfare centers or citizen``s organizations over three years. Besides, the data were collected by in-depth interviews from April to July in 2012. Research methods were descriptive, cross-sectional, and qualitative design. The interviews were recorded and the essential themes were drawn by using line-by-line approach of phenomenological reflection. The result was verified 10 main themes in 2 sections from 17 focal meanings. Those main themes in the meaning of experiences and effects on their work were the deep understanding of culture & people, enlargement of life fields, stress, and satisfaction. As for the forming process of cultural competence, they were curiosity & lack of readiness or capability, efforts for cultural sensitivity & enlargement of cultural perceivedness, accumulation of cultural knowledge & perception, efforts for multicultural skills, self-reflection of the multicultural experiences, and lastly development of cultural penetration with competent behaviors & devotion. Among the factors of cultural competence, knowledge and attitudes towards multiculture weren`t located in the same development stage. Multicultural skills had developed by the forming process of cultural competence. This study results will be helpful for making support & education system of migrants.
