국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등학생들의 방송댄스 문화의 형성과정을 살피고, 이를 사회문화적 담론과 연결 지어서 비판적 으로 해석해보는데 있다. 연구자들은 희망초등학교 6학년 학생들의 방송댄스 문화를 비판적문화기술지를 활용하여 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 희망초등학교 6학년 학생들을 대상으로 2019년 6월부터 11월까지 참여관찰 및 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구를 위한 주요 제보자는 6학년 여학생 9명과 남학생 2명이었다. 수집된 자 료는 Fiske의 일상적 문화실천의 분석틀을 활용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 비추어 볼 때, 초등학교 학생들은 다양한 경로로 방송댄스 문화에 입문하고 있으며 그 과정에서 또래 놀이 문화로 정착되는 과정을 거친다. 특히, 학교 교육 과정이나 학급 교육과정을 운영하는데 있어, 학생들에게 주어지는 ‘공연’의 기회는 방송댄스 문화를 활성화하는데 기여하고 있었다. 연구 참여자들은 공연을 중심으로 노래선정, 팀구성, 역할배정, 준비 및 연습, 공연, 팀 해체와 새 로운 팀 구성의 순환적 과정을 거치면서 그들의 문화를 형성해나가고 있었다. 그들이 생성된 문화는 상징적 또래 문화를 형성하면서 다른 집단과 그들이 구별될 수 있는 기제로 작용하고 있었으며, 특히 남학생들은 배제되고 있는 양상을 보였다. 초등학교 학생들의 방송댄스 문화는 스포츠 양육의 장으로도 읽을 수 있는데, 방송댄스라는 주제는 아버지가 ‘스포츠를 통한 양육에 참여’할 수 있는 가능성을 제한한다고 분석했다. 방송댄스는 지배적인 학교 문화의 하위문화적 성격을 갖게 되는데, 전통적인 학생상이 최근 들어 ‘자기주도적인 학생’으로 변모되는 과정에서 교육적 이미지를 갖게 되기 때문이다. 초등학교 학생들의 방송댄스 문화가 ‘아이돌 문화’에 종속적 위치에 있지만, 한편으 로는 그들 나름대로의 문화적 실천 과정을 거치며 ‘브리콜라주’적 특성을 가진다. 방송댄스 문화는 젠더 투쟁의 양 상을 보이는데, 남성성과 여성성의 대결적 구도와 함께 남학생들은 새로운 남성성을 구축하는 경험을 갖게 되는 것 으로 분석했다. 결론에서는 비판적 페다고지를 통한 무용교육의 필요성을 주장하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of elementary school students broadcasting dance culture and to interpret it critically by connecting it with socio-cultural discourse. To do this, a qualitive case study was conducted. The researchers explored the broadcasting dance culture of the 6th grade students of Hope Elementary School using critical ethnography. The research participants collected data through nine formal research participants and two informal research participants, and collected data were used in the analysis framework of Fiske s(1992) theory. The findiing of this study, elementary school students entered the broadcasting dance culture through various channels, and in the process, they settle into peer play culture. In particular, in the operation of the school curriculum and the class curriculum, the opportunity for the performance given to the students contributed to revitalizing the broadcasting dance culture. Participants were forming their culture through the cycle of song selection, team formation, role assignment, preparation and practice, performance, team breakup and new team formation. The culture they created served as a mechanism by which they could distinguish themselves from other groups, forming a symbolic peer culture, and especially boys were excluded from the process. The broadcasting dance culture of elementary school students can also be read as a ‘sport parenting’. As a sport parenting the broadcasting dance is expected to limit the participation of father raising through sports. Broadcast dances have a subcultural character of the dominant student culture, because the norm for student awards has an educational image in the process of transforming the “self-directed student” award in recent years. The broadcasting dance culture of elementary school students is subordinate to the existing idol culture, but on the other hand, it has a characteristic of bicolage through the process of producing its own culture. The broadcasting dance culture shows gender struggles, with male and female confrontational structures, contributing to the development of new masculinity. The conclusion insisted on the necessity of dance education through critical dance pedagogy.
