영문 초록

The primary concern underlying this study was that compared to non-learning disabled children, learning disabled children appear less socially competent. The learning disabled frequently misperceive social interactions and inaccurately decode nonverbal expressions of emotion. This research sought to determine if there was a relationship between the ability to decode facial expressions and social competence of learning disabled children. The results of the present study revealed learning disabled children are less accurate interpreters of emotion and have less social competence than non-learning disabled children. The Spearman s rho for the accuracy on a modified version of Picture of Facial Affect and Walker- McConnell Scale of Social Competence and School Adujustment shows a statistically significant correlation between facial affect decoding ability and social competency.
