자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아들의 다문화 인식 및 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 만4세 유아의 다문화 인식 및 친사회적 행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구기간은 2016년 10월 17일부터 12월 16일까지이며, 연구대상은 S시에 소재한 S유치원과 M유치원의 만 4세 유아 52명이다. 이 기간 동안 실험집단인 S유치원 유아에게는 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동을 실시하였으며 비교집단인 M유치원 유아에게는 누리과정에 따른 기존의 활동을 진행하였다. 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 유효순(2010)이 제작한 유아용 다문화 인식 척도를 사용하였고, 유아의 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서는 김영옥(2003)이 개발한 친사회적 행동 평가 척도(PBSYC)를 사용하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동은 유아의 다문화 인식 전체와 하위요인인 다문화 배려, 다문화 수용, 다문화 존중, 다문화 개방 모두에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동은 유아의 친사회적 행동 전체와 하위요인인 지도성, 도움 주기, 의사소통, 주도적 배려, 접근 시도하기, 나누기, 감정이입 및 조절 모두에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 자연물을 활용한 다문화 교육활동은 유아의 다문화 인식과 친사회적 행동에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate how multicultural education activities using natural materials affect multicultural awareness and prosocial behavior of 4-year-old children. This study was conducted from October 17, 2016 to December 16, 2016, and the subjects were 52 children of age 4 attending S and M kindergartens in S city. During this period, multicultural education activities using natural materials were conducted for S kindergarten children, an experiemental group, and existing activities were carried out for M kindergarten children, a comparative group. In order to examine the effects of multicultural education activities using natural materials on children s perceptions of multiculturalism, the multicultural perception scale for young children designed by Hyo-Soon You(2010), and the prosocial behavior assessment scale(PBSYC) developed by Young-ok Kim(2003) were used. The results were as follows. First, multicultural education activities using natural materials had positive effects on young children s overall awareness of multiculturalism as well as the sub-factors, including multicultural consideration, acceptance, respect, and openness to multiculturalism. Second, multicultural education activities using natural materials had positive effects on the participants’ overall prosocial behavior and their subordinate factors such as leadership, helping, communication, initiative consideration, approach attempt, sharing, empathy and control. The results indicate that multicultural education activities using natural materials have positive effects on young children s multicultural awareness and prosocial behavior.
