국문 초록

이 연구는 중학교 기술ㆍ가정 교과 ‘기계의 이해’단원에서 실습수업이 학생들의 학업성취와 파지에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 한 것으로, t 검증의 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 이 연구를 실시한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 실험집단(실습수업)이 통제집단(이론수업)에 비해 학업성취에서 조금 높은 평균점을 나타내기는 하였으나, 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 실험집단(실습수업)과 통제집단(이론수업)이 1시간 경과 시점과 1일 경과 시점의 경우 파지 사후검사에서 실험집단(실습수업)이 통제 집단(이론수업)에 비해 조금 높은 평균점을 얻었지만 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 그러나 31일 경과 시점의 경우는 앞의 두 파지 사후검사와는 달리 실험집단(실습수업)이 통제 집단(이론수업)에 비해 높은 평균 점수를 얻었고, 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과에 근거하여, 실습수업은 학업성취도 향상에 있어 유의미한 효과를 얻을 수 없었으나, 장시간 파지를 향상시키는 데에는 매우 효과가 있다는 결론을 내릴 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the effect of the practice class on student academic achievement and retention for middle school “Understanding Machines” part and analysis was done using the t verification method. As a result of conducting the study, the following conclusions were drawn. First, in terms of academic achievement, the experimental group (practice class) had a slightly higher average score compared to the control group (theory class) but the difference was not statistically significant. Second, retention post-examination, conducted one hour after and then one day after the classes for the experimental group (practice class) and the control group (theory class), showed a slightly higher average score for the experimental group but the difference was not statistically significant. But for retention post-examination given 31 days after the classes were held, in contrast to the results of the two previous retention post-examinations, the experimental group (practice class) had a higher average score than the control group (theory class) and a statistically significant difference was detected. Based on the results of the study, a statistically significant effect on academic achievement cannot be derived from practice classes but it can be concluded that practice classes have a significant effect on improving long-term retention.
