어머니의 정서표현수용태도가 아동의 학교준비도에 미치는 영향: 아동의 자기조절의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 어머니의 정서표현수용태도와 학령전 아동의 학교준비도의 관계에서 아동의 자기조절의 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 서울 및 경기도 유치원과 어린이집에 재학중인 학령전 아동 273명과 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 24.0을 활용하여 빈도분석 및 Pearson의 적률상관분석, 단순회귀분석 및 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 어머니의 긍정적 정서표현수용태도가 아동의 자기조절 및 아동의 학교준비도 중 단체생활을 위한 기본 자세, 사회정서적 유능성, 학습활동을 위한 능력과 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로, 다중회귀분석결과, 아동의 자기조절은 어머니의 긍정적 정서표현수용태도와 아동의 학교준비도 중 단체생활을 위한 기본자세, 사회정서적 유능성, 학습활동을 위한 능력을 부분매개 혹은 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 어머니의 긍정적 정서표현수용태도가 통제적이고 엄격할수록 아동이 인내, 집중, 조절 등과 같은 자기조절을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하며, 아동의 높은 자기조절 수준은 결국 아동의 단체생활, 학습활동, 사회적 유능성의 높은 수준으로 연결된다는 점을 확인하였다. 또한 아동의 자기조절향상을 위한 프로그램 개발 및 부모와 교사교육을 위한 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of preschoolers’ self-regulation between mothers’ attitudes toward children’s emotional expressiveness and school readiness. In this study, data from 273 preschoolers in kindergartens and childcare centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi were used. For data analysis, Pearson’s correlation and a multi-regression analysis were used to discover the relationships and mediating effects with SPSS 24.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, mothers’ attitudes toward their children’s positive emotional expressiveness had a positive correlation with the self-regulation of preschoolers and school readiness. Second, children’s self-regulation was fully or partly mediated by mothers’ attitudes toward their children’s positive emotional expressiveness and school readiness. These findings suggest the following: the more controlled and strict mothers’ attitudes toward their children’s positive emotional expressiveness, the more improved their children’s self-regulation, exemplified by patience, concentration, and control. Further, it was confirmed that a high level of self-regulation among children eventually led to group and learning activities and social competence. This study can be used as a resource for developing programs to improve self-regulation of children and parents’ and teachers’ education.
