창조도시의 그늘과 탈출구로서 소통의 정감적 공동체 : 사회의‘둥지’를 향한 도시인의 열정

국문 초록

우리가 살아가는 도시의 문제는 도시 스스로에게 질문하기를 멈추었다는데 있다. 창조도시 논의는 도시가 삶의 둥지로서 형성되는 조건의 근본질문에서 유래되지 않는다. 이러한 한계로부터 도시에 거주하는 도시인들은 시공간의 생애의 단절과 세대간 단절로서 ‘문화적 기억’의 뿌리를 상실하고 있다. 창조도시는 과도한 투자와 경제적 효용을 목표로 하는 시대징후에 대안적인 상징임이 분명하다. 그러나 창조도시의 논의는 도시인이 어떠한 삶의 조건 속에서 ‘가능성의 극한’을 요구받고, 불확실한 미래를 살아가는 가운데 직면하는 개인의 위기를 이웃과 더불어 공동의 위기로서 해결하는 소통의 맥락의 통찰이 무엇보다도 중요하다. 이 논문은 바우만의 ‘액체근대’의 시각에서 창조도시로의 탈출구를 발견하는 새로운 맥락을 드러내었다. 즉 도시인의 위기에 초점을 두지 않는 창조도시는 도시의 근본위기로서 치유되지 않는 ‘도시의 무능력’으로 나아가는 양가성을 드러내었다. 즉 도시인은 거대한 화려한 도시의 이미지로부터 삶과 문화적 기억이 단절된 ‘분양’으로 더 이상 배치될 수 없다. 뿐만 아니라 액체도시로 벗어나기 위한 창조도시의 논의는 도시인이 개인에 환원되는 단절된 위기로부터 ‘집단감흥의 공동체’를 통해 사회자본의 차원에서 시너지적 네트워킹이 필요함을 제안하였다. 결론적으로 창조도시는 사회의 안온한 둥지로서 도시인들의 삶의 위기에 주목하고, 직면하는 위기를 공동해결하는 ‘공동체적 향기’와 새로운 창조성의 소통과 네트워킹이 절실히 요구된다. 이러할 때 도시인들은 ‘그림자경쟁’으로부터 소진되지 않는 ‘시간의 여유로움’을 회복하고, 안온한 둥지로서 공동체의 향유세계로 창조적으로 소통할 수 있다.

영문 초록

A problem in the city we live in is that we have stopped asking a question to ourselves. A discussion on ‘Creativity City’does not originate from the fundamental question on the requirements for a city to develop into a nest in life. Due to this kind of limitation, urbanites have experienced discontinuance in life and generation gap and lost the root of ‘cultural memories.’ It has no doubt that ‘creativity city’ is an alternative symbol in the era in which great investment and economic efficiency are targeted. In terms of the debate on creativity city, however, insight into the context of communication is essential in order to get over crisis in life with neighbors as long as we live a life with an uncertain future. This paper has unveiled a context which discovers an exit to the creativity city from the view of ‘the Liquid Modern World’ by Zymunt Bauman. In other words, a creativity city which does not focus on urbanites’ crisis has revealed ambivalence in which fundamental urban crisis is not healed. After all, they started to lose their lifestyle and cultural memories isolated from the extravagant urban life. In addition, this paper has proposed the necessity of networking in terms of cultural capital through ‘community of group inspiration’ to get off from the crisis. Consequently, a creativity city focuses on urbanites crisis in life as a peaceful nest and asks for ‘the scent of community’ to jointly get over individual crisis and communication and network for new creativity. Then, urbanites can finally have creative communication in a peaceful community without wasting their energy in ‘shadow competition.’
