예술교육의 다문화주의 실천 양상에 대한 비판적 논의

국문 초록

이 연구는 그동안 인종, 민족, 성, 계층의 문화적 고정관념과, 편견, 선입관을 탈피하고 사회의 통합과 복지를 위해 정책적으로 사용된 다문화주의 담론과 이에 대한 다양한 해석을 검토하고 이를 기반으로 예술교육의 역할을 다문화주의적 관점에서 비판적으로 논의한다. 문화산업시대 예술, 세계인식의 한 도구로서 예술의 역할의 관점에서 문화재생산으로서의 예술교육을 비판적 다문화주의와 관련하여 논의하고 예술교육 실천 양상을 검토한다. 이를 위해‘문화예술교육’이라는 정책적 용어가 등장해야만 했던 시대적 상황과 사회적 요구 및 정서적 안정과 다문화교육 차원에서 소외계층들에게 제공되는 예술 체험교육 프로그램들을 문화 다양성과 다문화주의 관점에서 반성적으로 논의한다. 현재 주로 지역사회의 문화예술부흥과 예술향유의 기회 확대로 이루어지고 있는 예술교육의 실천 양상들은 문화예술교육정책, 여가와 웰빙, 예술통합교육, 지역사회 기반 및 연계교육으로 이루어지고 있다. 다문화주의 실천들에 대한 반성과 다문화주의 담론에 대한 비판적 관점에서 이런 실천 양상들은 예술이 가져다주는 인간 삶과 문화의 이해를 고정된 전통적 교육방식이 아닌 현대 우리가 살아가는 지역과 사회에 대한 관심과 이해로부터 비롯되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The role of culture and arts education for endorsing multiculturalism is becoming increasingly important as there is a growing awareness of the division and cultural conflict between the newly emerging social classes among nations in the ‘cultural industry era’ formed by the proliferation of globalization. There is also a critical awareness of social problems and economic and cultural inequalities caused by excessive competitive knowledge-based education. This study explores aspects of current practices of the role of arts education in the perspective of multiculturalism, and examines the multicultural education that is practiced politically in order to rid cultural stereotypes, prejudices and bias that have been neglected while the spread of cultural diversity and multiculturalism. Firstly, it discusses the multicultural discourse and the arts education from the viewpoint of critical multiculturalism. Based on this, it examines the historical context in which the political term ‘culture and arts education’ had to be coined and practical aspects where the art education programs offered to the underprivileged class is expanding opportunities for local culture and arts and arts appreciation. This discussion is considered from the critical perspective of the ultimate role of arts education on multiculturalism discourse, which consists of culture and arts education policies, leisure and well-being, integrated education, community based and connected education.
