국문 초록

한국사회 이주민들은 이제 나름의 역할과 정체성을 가지고 살아가고 있으며 초기와는 달리 현재의 이주민들은 사회 각 층에서 다양한 직업에 종사하며 역량을 키우고 있다. 특히 이주민 노동자 또는 결혼이주여성이라는 지원과 수혜를 받는 입장에서 자신의 삶을 주체적으로 인식하고 당사자 활동가로서 변모하게 된 이들의 활동에 주목할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이주민으로서 동료 이주민을 지원하는 이주민 활동가 두 사례의 생애를 통해 활동가가 되기까지의 삶의 맥락과 학습과정을 생애사를 통해 드러내 보고자 하였다. 연구결과 이들 이주민 당사자 활동가들은 결혼 또는 노동 등 계기는 달랐지만‘이주’라는 커다란 공통 경험 통해 모국에서의 삶과는 전혀 다른 문화적 상황에 유입되게 된다. 이들은 이러한 낯선 상황 속에서 초기에는 갈등과 혼란을 겪었으나 점차 일터 학습, 공동체 학습 등을 통해 나름의 주체성을 회복하게 된다. 이 과정에서 이들은 ‘소극적 타자’에서 ‘능동적 주체자’로서의 자기정체성의 변화를 일으키게 되었다. 이들의 학습생애사를 통해 우리는 형식적 차원의 다문화교육보다 무형식 학습에 의한 다문화교육의 중요성과 또한 학습자 스스로의 형성가능성과 활동성을 바탕으로 하는 교육학적 실천이 새로운 다문화 사회의 과제여야 함을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Immigrants of Korean society are living with their own roles and identities. Unlike the early stage when most of them entered as industrial research students, current immigrants are following various occupations of all social strata and cultivating their capabilities. Especially, from an angle of immigrant worker or marriage migrant woman who is supported and gets benefits, it’s necessary to focus on their activities they recognize their lives subjectively and become activists. Therefore, the subject of this research is 2 immigrant activists who have lived in Korea for more than 10years and are supporting other immigrants in NGO and this research found reasons for their successful adaptation to Korean society and becoming of activists. The method of this research is a study on life history by narrative interview. As a result of this research, there were different detailed goals of immigrant activists, such as marriage, work, etc, but they enter cultural situation which is completely different from their life in homeland through the big common experience, ‘migration’. In the early stage, they experienced conflicts and confusion in unfamiliar situation, but their identity is gradually recovered by workplace learning, community learning. During the process, they caused changes of self-identity from ‘passive others’ to ‘active subjects’. Through their biographical learning, multi-cultural education by informal learning is more important than multi-cultural education of formal level and educational practice based on learner’s forming possibility and activity should be a task of new multi-cultural society.
