국문 초록

본 연구는 우리사회의 다양한 영역에서 처별과 배제의 대상이 되고 있는 사회적 소수자에 대해 인권보장과 다양성관리의 토대 위에 포용적 복지를 구현하기 위해 가장 기본이 되는 태도환경개선에 초점을 맞춰 타자가 인식한 태도양상을 사회적 거리감을 활용하여 실증적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이에 생애주기 및 교육과정, 사회적 위치 등에 비추어 태도담론의 중요한 견인자로 평가되는 대학생들을 대상으로 사회적 거리감을 적용한 태도수준, 소수자 집단별 태도차이 및 영향요인의 양상을 비교분석하였다. 이러한 과정에서 개인차원의 인지적․정서적․행동적 요소의 균형적 고려뿐 아니라 학교차원에서의 주요요소 효과까지 고려한 분석을 시행함으로써 분석적용의 객관성과 함의도출의 다변성을 시도하였다. 분석대상은 전국의 22개 대학교에 재학 중인 660명의 대학생이고, 자료수집은 구조화된 설문지를 활용한 면접 및 전화조사를 적용하였으며, 분석의 경우 태도수준은 기술적 분석, 태도차이분석은 공변량분석, 영향요인분석은 다층분석을 각각 시행하였다. 분석결과, 대학생이 인식한 소수자 집단에 대한 사회적 거리감 수준은 5점 척도 기준 중간값(3점) 보다 높은 수준(3.92)이었고, 소수자 잡단별로 장애인, 동성애자, 다문화인의 순으로 부정적 평가가 높았다. 태도차이분석에서는 모든 소수자 집단에서 사회적 거리감 전체 및 하위요소(신체적 및 관계적 거리감) 모두에서 태도차이가 통계적으로 유의미함이 확인되었고, 영향요인분석에서는 학교효과가 모든 소수자 집단에 공통으로 유의미하게 나타남을 전제로, 학교변수 중 이해교육과 봉사실천, 그리고 학교문화가 주요한 변수로 확인되었다. 이에 소수자 이해접근에 있어 보편성과 특수성의 고려라는 큰 틀 위에 소수자 전체에 대한 제도화를 통한 학교차원의 체계적 노력은 물론 각 소수자 집단별 필요사항에 대한 구체적 접근노력을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study set out examine empirically the patterns of attitude perceived by others by making use of social distance with a focus on the improvement of an attitude environment, which is the most basic element to fulfill inclusive welfare, based on the security of human rights and the management of diversity for social minorities that were becoming the objects of punishment and exclusion across various areas of the South Korean society. Targeting college students considered as important drivers of the attitude discourse according to the life cycle, curriculum and social position, the study compared and analyzed their attitude levels by applying social distance and also differences and influential factors in their attitudes according to minority groups. By taking into balanced consideration the effects of main elements at the school level in analysis as well as the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral elements at the individual level in the process, the investigator made an attempt at the objectivity of analytical application and the multi-sidedness of implications. Total 660 students were analyzed in the study at 22 universities around the nation. Data was collected from them with an interview and phone survey based on a structured questionnaire. Their attitude levels were examined in descriptive analysis; their attitude differences were examined in covariation analysis; and their influential factors were examined in multi-level analysis. The analysis results show that the college students recorded a higher level of social distance from minority groups, scoring 3.92 above the standard median value(3) on a 5-point scale. Their negative evaluation was the highest for the disabled, who were followed by homosexuals and multicultural people in the order. The analysis results of attitude differences reveal that there were statistically significant differences in their attitudes toward all the minority groups according to overall social distance and its subelements(physical and relational distance). On a premise that school effects would be significant for all the minority groups, the investigator analyzed influential factors and found that understanding education, practice of volunteer work, and school culture of the school variables were major variables. Based on these results, the study proposed to make specific approaches to the demands of each minority group as well as make systematic efforts at the school level through the institutionalization of the entire minority community under a huge framework of consideration for both universality and uniqueness in understanding and approaching minorities.
