국내 과학문화 활동의 전개 과정

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 이승만 정부 시기부터 노무현 정부 시기까지 국내에서 전개된 과학문화 활동을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 또한 당시 과학문화 활동이 과학교육과 어떤 관계를 나타내었는지 알아보기 위한 것이다. 분석 결과 초창기에는 과학문화 활동이 거의 전무했고, 기술교육이 강조되었던 것으로 나타났다. 이후 ‘전 국민의 과학화’를 거치면서 과학문화 활동이 다양한 양상으로 전개되었다. 이 과정에서 과학교육은 과학의 대중화와 관련해 이전 시기보다 강화된 것으로 나타났다. 2000년대 들어 ‘과학문화’라는 개념이 확산되면서 과학교육 분야의 활동은 과학축전, 과학기술정보망 구축, 사이언스TV 등과 연계되어 수요자 중심, 상호작용 중심적 성격을 나타내었다. 이와 같은 변화는 각 시기에 나타난 과학문화의 성격과 과학교육의 전개 방향이 밀접하게 관련되어 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 향후 과학적 소양의 함양과 과학기술에 대한 시민참여라는 측면에서 과학문화 활동은 더욱 확대될 것으로 전망된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze science culture activities deployed from Lee Seoung-man Government till Roh Moo-hyun Government. Also this study aimed at examining the relationship between science culture activities and science education. The result of this analysis showd that at early period there were almost no science culture activities, and technical training was emphasized. Throughout ‘science of all citizens , science culture activities have been developed in various aspects. In the process, science education was more enhanced than the previous period with respect to the popularization of science. As the concept of ‘science culture’ spreads in the 2000s, the characteristic of science education activities became consumer and interaction-oriented, as shown in activities linked with Science Festival, Science and Technology Information Network, and Science TV. Such changes suggest that the characteristic of science culture and the direction of science education are closely related at each period. In the future, science culture activities will spread more in terms of the enhancement of scientific literacy and citizen participation in science and technology.
