‘교육서비스과학’의 정립을 위한 이론적 탐색

국문 초록

본 논문은 교육서비스과학의 정립과 이론적 토대를 탐색하기 위한 목적으로 연구되었다. 교육서비스과학은 교육 분야가 서비스과학과 융합하여 보다 구체적이고 생산적인 활동으로 재탄생하기 위한 노력의 일환이라고 볼 수 있다. 교육서비스과학의 정립 가능성을 탐색하기 위해 본 연구는 ‘왜’ 교육서비스과학이 필요한가? 의 문제와 교육서비스과학은 ‘무엇’인가? 라는 질문에 집중하였다. 먼저 ‘왜’에 대한 질문에 대해서는 네 가지 관점에서 검토하였는데, 그것은 (1) 구체성과 명확성, (2) 초점과 집중, (3) 고객중심, (4) 가치제공 이다. ‘무엇’에 대한 질문은 먼저 서비스과학의 특징을 (1) 서비스중심논리, (2) 가치의 공동창조, (3) 서비스시스템, (4) 서비스혁신의 측면에서 설명하고, 교육 분야에서도 단순한 교육서비스 논의가 아닌 교육서비스과학의 정립은 통해 얻을 수 있는 이점을 (1) 시스템관점, (2) 데이터 증거기반, (3) 혁신, (4) 해결책 테크놀로지의 측면에서 파악하였다. 본 논문은 나아가서 이러한 교육서비스과학이 적용되어 발전시킬 수 있는 영역을 (1) 교육서비스디자인, (2) 교육서비스컨설팅, (3) 교육서비스 표준 및 질 관리, (4) 교육서비스마케팅의 네 가지로 제시하였다. 이러한 영역들은 그 동안 지엽적으로 연구가 되긴 했지만 교육결과의 수준을 기대이상으로 향상시키고자할 때 과학적인 기반을 통합적으로 제공하는 데에는 미흡했던 분야로서 많은 교육담당자들의 관심이 필요한 분야라고 생각된다. 끝으로 본 논문은 교육서비스과학이 교육서비스혁신을 지향한다는 입장을 강조하면서 이를 위해 교육서비스과학이 보다 더 발전될 수 있는 향후 논의과제를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to establish the discipline of ‘education service science’ and to explore the theoretical bases of it. Education service science is one of the efforts to change the education field into something more concrete and productive by combining the field of education with service science. This paper focuses on the questions of ‘why’ education service science is needed and ‘what’ education service science is. The study reviews the question of ‘why’ in four perspectives; (1) concreteness and clarity, (2) focus and concentration, (3) customer centeredness, and (4) value offer. The question of ‘what’ first explained the characteristics of service science, which are (1) service-dominant logic, (2) co-creation of value, (3) the service system, and (4) service innovation, then analyzed the benefits of establishing not only education service, but education service science, in four viewpoints, which are (1) system viewpoint, (2) evidence base, (3) innovation, and (4) solution technology. This study then presents four domains to be applied and developed by education service science. Those are (1) education service design, (2) education service consulting, (3) education service standard and quality management, and (4) education service marketing. Research in these areas happen sporadically, but such research has been marginalized. When attempting to use this research as a foundation to improve educational work, it has been lacking. And so, it is an area that is in need of attention by researchers and practitioners. In conclusion, this paper presents future research agendas in order to develop education service science while emphasizing that education service science aims to innovate education service systems.
