영아기의 부정적 정서성과 어머니의 온정적 양육행동이 유아기의 외현화 문제행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 영아기 자녀의 부정적 정서성과 어머니의 온정적 양육행동이 시간의 흐름에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지를 살펴보고 또한 이러한 변화가 유아기 자녀의 외현화 문제행동에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널(PSKC) 2차년도부터 5차년도까지 참여한 유아 1,325명의 어머니 자료를 잠재성장모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 영아기 동안 자녀의 부정적 정서성은 증가하는 반면 어머니의 온정적 양육행동은 감소하였다. 또한 자녀가 1세 때 부정적 정서성 수준이 높을수록 어머니의 온정적 양육행동이 변화율이 증가하였고, 어머니의 온정적 양육행동이 높을수록 영아기의 부정적 정서성의 변화율도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 유아기 외현화 문제행동은 영아기 부정적 정서성의 변화율이 정적으로, 어머니의 온정적 양육행동의 초기치는 부적으로 유의미하게 영향을 주었다. 이로써 영아기의 부정적 정서성과 어머니의 온정적 양육행동은 서로 상호작용하며 유아기의 외현화 문제행동을 예측하는 변인임을 밝혀내었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study was to explore the trajectories of negative emotionality of infants aged 1-3 and affective parenting behaviors of their mother, and then to examine their bidirectional effects between the two variables. The longitudinal effects of negative emotionality and maternal affective parenting behaviors in infancy on externalizing problem behaviors when they were 4 year olds at preschools were also examined using latent growth modeling. In order for this purpose, data from 1,325 children whose mothers participated in 2nd to 5th phases of the Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed. It was revealed that the level of negative emotionality was likely to increase whereas the level of mother’s affective parenting behaviors seemed to decrease from aged 1-3. Also, higher initial negative emotionality at age 1 predicted the rate of decreases in mother’s affective parenting, whereas higher affective parenting of mothers tended to decrease their child s negative emotionality during infancy. The initial level (intercept) of maternal affective parenting behaviors had a negative influence, and the rate of change (slope) of negative emotionality had a positive effect on externalizing problem behaviors. This study provides evidence that affective parenting is an important factor in preventing preschooler s externalizing problem behaviors.
