중학생 학업성취 예측을 위한 학업요구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중학생을 대상으로 학업소진과 학업참여에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색하고 직무요구-자원 모형(Job Demand-Resource Model)을 학업 장면에서 검증하고자 함이다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기 지역에 위치한 중학교 2, 3학년 총 402명을 대상으로 연구를 실시하였으며, 부모의 학업압박기대, 부모의 학업지원행동, 학업소진, 학업참여 척도로 구성된 자기보고식 설문지로 데이터를 수집하여 구조방정식모형으로 분석하였다. 직무자원-모형에 입각하여 연구의 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 요구변인인 부모의 학업 압박기대는 학업소진에 유의미한 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 자원 변인으로 사용한 부모의 학업 지원행동은 학업참여에 유의미한 정적인 영향을 미쳤고 학업소진에는 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 학업소진은 학업성취에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 학업참여가 학업성취에 매우 유의미한 정적인 영향을 주었다. 마지막으로, 학업소진은 압박기대와 학업성취 사이를 매개하지 않았으며 학업참여는 부모의 지원행동과 학업성취를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 학업소진과 학업참여에 영향을 미치는 요인과 직무요구-자원 모형을 학업장면에서의 검증에 대한 본 연구의 의의와 한계, 그리고 후속연구를 진행하는 데 있어서 더욱 의미 있는 연구결과를 얻기 위해 필요한 제언을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the factors that influence on Korean middle school students’ academic burnout and engagement and test the Job Demand-Resource Model in the educational context. A structural equation modeling was performed on cross-sectional data collected from 402 middle school students, with the survey questionnaires on perceived parents’ pressure and support, and students’ academic burnout and engagement. The results suggested that the pressure from parental expectation as a demand variable had a positive effect on students’ emotional exhaustion, the early stage of severe academic burnout. Also, the academic supports from parents as a resource variable had a negative effect on academic burnout. Whereas the level of academic burnout did not have a significant effect on their academic engagement, the academic engagement had a positive effect on academic achievement. Last, while their academic burnout mediated the relationship between parents’ pressure and academic achievement, academic engagement did in the relationship between parents’ supportive behaviors and academic achievement. Research implications and study limitations are discussed.
