중학생의 그릿 유형에 따른 행동조절과 자기결정동기의 차이

국문 초록

본 연구는 그릿(grit)의 두 가지 구성요소인 끈기와 흥미유지의 정도에 따라 청소년에게 존재하는 그릿 유형을 확인하고, 그 유형을 예측하는 환경 요인이 무엇이며 그릿 유형에 따라 자기조절학습의 주요 요소인 행동조절 및 자기결정동기가 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 확인하고자 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 중학교 2학년 학생 532명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 분석한 결과, 그릿의 두 가지 구성요소인 끈기와 흥미유지의 정도에 따라 총 6개의 그릿 유형이 확인되었다. 이러한 유형의 분류를 유의하게 예측하는 학생 및 환경 요인은 성별, 가정에서의 자유로운 의사소통, 학교에서의 친구지지 등이었다. 또한, 그릿 유형과 자기조절학습과의 관계를 살펴본 결과 그릿이 높은 학생일수록 행동조절을 잘 하고 내재적 동기가 높은 것으로 나타나 그릿은 긍정적인 학습 특성과 관련이 깊다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 환경에 따라 그릿이 증진될 수 있으며 그릿의 증진은 청소년에게 필요한 자기조절학습역량인 자기결정동기 및 행동조절의 증진과 연결된다는 결과를 통해 교육적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the type of grit present in adolescents according to the two components of grit, persistence of effort and consistency of interest. In addition, the research examined what the environmental factors predict the type of grit and the differences in behavioral regulation and self-determined motivation based on the type of grit. For these purposes, the study administered 532 middle school students who are in the grade 2. As a result, grit was classified into 6 types according to the degree of two components of grit. Especially gender of students and free communication at home, and friendship in school significantly predict the classification of grit. Also, the relationship between type of grit and self - regulated learning showed that students with higher grit showed better behavioral regulation and higher intrinsic motivation, indicating that grit is related to positive learning traits. These results suggest that grit can be promoted by the environment, and that the development of grit leads to the enhancement of self-determined motivation and behavior regulation, which are necessary for adolescents.
