예비특수교사의 성격적 강점과 삶의 만족도 및 특수교육역량과의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 예비특수교사들의 성격적 강점과 이러한 강점들이 삶의 만족도와 특수교육역량과는 어떻게 관련되어 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 충남소재 A대학교와 B대학교 예비특수교사 111명을 대상으로 성격적 강점 척도, 삶의 만족도 척도, 특수교육역량 척도를 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 예비특수교사들은 성격적 강점 중 사랑, 친절성, 감사, 낙관성, 감상력, 진실성, 사회지능, 유머감각의 점수가 높았고, 영성, 학구열, 용서 등의 점수가 낮게 나타났다. 예비특수교사가 일반대학생보다 높은 순위를 보인 것은 감사, 감상력, 활력, 호기심, 끈기, 지혜, 리더십과 용감성이고, 일반대학생이 예비특수교사보다 높은 순위를 보인 것은 낙관성, 진실성, 유머감각, 공정성, 시민정신, 겸손, 신중성, 자기조절, 용서 등이었다. 예비특수교사의 경우 24개의 성격적 강점 중 14개 강점이 삶의 만족도와 정적인 상관관계를 보였고, 삶의 만족도를 유의미하게 설명하는 강점은 감사인 것으로 나타났다. 특수교육역량의 다섯 가지 하위 요인, 즉 특수교육이해와 수업전역량, 수업중역량, 수업후역량, 학생생활지도 역량은 각각 15개, 20개, 3개, 4개, 8개의 강점과 정적인 상관관계를 보였다. 특히 특수교육이해를 유의미하게 설명하는 강점은 낙관성과 자기조절이었으며, 수업전역량을 유의미하게 설명하는 강점은 활력과 개방성, 지혜였다. 이러한 결과는 예비특수교사의 특수성 및 실제 적용 면에서 논의되었으며, 마지막으로, 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구를 위한 제언들이 함께 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated 24 character strengths of pre-service special education teachers and investigated the relation of their character strengths with perceived satisfaction with life and special education competences. In this study, 111 pre-service special education teachers of A and B universities located in Chungnam area participated. Participants completed Inventory of Character Strengths, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and Special Education Competence Scale. Results are as follows. First, pre-service special education teachers scored relatively high in love, kindness, social intelligence, authenticity, appreciation of beauty and excellence, gratitude, optimism, and humor and they scored lower in love of learning, forgiveness, spirituality etc. Additionally, pre-service special education teachers showed higher in curiosity, wisdom, bravery, persistence, vitality, leadership, appreciation of beauty and excellence, and gratitude pre-service university students. Gratitude was significantly associated with perceived satisfaction with life, optimism and self-regulation with special education understanding, and vitality, open-mindedness, and wisdom with pre-instruction competence. We discussed the results under the views of character strengths in general as well as special education competences in particular. Finally, the limitations, implications of this study and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
