이중섭 작품에서의 미술심리적 접근

국문 초록

이중섭의 일생은 영화 혹은 연극, 소설로 극화되어 신비화되고 신화적 존재로서 다른 어떤 미술인들 보다 세상에 알려지게 되었다. 하지만 그의 생애에 대한 이러한 설화성을 강조하는것이 그의 작품세계를 평가하는데 방해요인이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이중섭 작품세계에 대한 보다 객관적이고 실증적 해석을 위해 이중섭 바로 알기의 한 방법으로 그의 생애와 시대적 상황을 작품세계를 통해 미술심리적 요소들을 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 작품에 나타난 미술심리적 접근으로 첫째, 소 그림의 해체･발전 과정으로, 하나의 논리를 지향하는 소 그림에서 여럿의 논리를 지향하는 군동화, 가족도의 과정이라고 말할 수 있다. 남성화시킨 소에 자기 자신을 동일시하여 거세불안에 대한 남근의 강조가 깃들여 있는 것은 무의식세계에 있는 모태로의 복귀염원이 강하게 있다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 닭그림과 엽서그림에서는 동물의 의인화를 통한 변용이 중요한 특징을 이루고, 에로티시즘에는 인간, 동식물, 무기물까지 함께 어울리고 있다. 셋째, 군동화, 가족도 그림에서 원형적 미의식은 잃어버린 가족에 대한 추구라고 말할 수 있다. 군동화의 어린이가 젖먹이로 퇴행을 보이는 이유 역시 그의 원형적 미의식이 모성의 품속에 대한 기억에 의해서만 회복될 수 있는 잃어버린 세계이기 때문이다. 끈이나 낚싯줄이 어머니의 역할을 대신하며, 지상과 천상의 세계가 화합하고 조화를 이루어 하나가 되는 꿈의 세계를 실현시키고 있다. 이중섭 미술작품에서 보여지는 미술심리적 접근은 의식성과 무의식의 상징성이 외계에 대한 객관적인 인식을 제공해주는 일반적인 언어와는 달리 직관적인 형태로 감정이나 정서와 같은 인간의 내면세계를 표현한 또 하나의 언어로 볼 수 있으며, 여기에 무의식적 동기, 개인의 경험, 사적인 욕망의 세계와 관련되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The life of Lee Jung-Seob has been myth field through various mass-media such as movies, plays, and novels. This makes him look bigger than the real, which would in turn obstruct our judgment in objectively evaluating his art works. In this study I shall seek and show some psychological aspects intended in Lee Jung-Seob's art works, as an attempt to better understand him with more objective and evidential interpretation. The results thus obtained are as follows. As a psychological approach with objects in his paintings, firstly, an intended logic is seen through a series of paintings, that is, a psychological process in order of painting a bull in its dismantling to show the logic of singleness, children group or families to show the logic of many. By identifying himself with a masculine bull, the author displays castration anxiety by emphasis of phallic imagery, which indicates his wish to return to the womb existing in his unconscious world. Secondly, with the paintings about chickens and postcards personification of animals is made as a symbol for alteration, while eroticism being painted includes humans, animals and plants, and even inorganic matters. Thirdly, prototypical aesthetic consciousness upon the paintings of a children group or a family is to seek something of the lost family. The reason of regression shown by the baby in a group of children is also an aesthetic prototype of a lost world recoverable only through the memory of mother's bosom. Mother's role is replaced with wire or fishing string to bring a world of dream in which heaven and earth become united and harmonious. The psychological approach disclosed in Lee Jung-Seob's paintings attempts a linguistic task to express the inner world of human beings having feelings and emotions, different from the world of objective judgments that can only be represented by ordinary language.
