자기 표현 미술활동이 정서장애 아동의 자아개념에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

교사의 아동 행동 특성 관찰 결과에 의하면 우리나라 학령기 정서장애 아동의 출현율은 약 2.16 % 에서 3.1%로 제시되고 있다.(김송국, 1985 ; 김순혜, 1985). 그러나 적응상의 심각한 문제는 없지만 개인의 성격 및 행동적 특성, 사회적 기술의 부족으로 발달상의 불이익을 당하는 아동을 포함한다면 그 비율은 월등히 높을 것으로 추정된다(홍준표, 1996). 정서장애 아동은 정상적인 지적 감각적 신체적 능력을 지녔음에도 불구하고 불안과 위축된 심려로 부정적 자아성(김창은, 1990)과 학습 무능력, 대인관계 무능력 등의 행동특성을 보인다. 따라서 교육현장에서 나타나는 아동들의 여러가지 정서상의 문제들은 사회나 부모에게는 더욱 심각한 문제가 될 수 있다. 정서적 문제를 가지고 있는 아동들은 자신의 문제, 생각, 욕구 그리고 감정들을 언어화하여 표출하는 데에 어려움을 가지는 것은 물론이며, 이와 같은 것들에 대해 논의하는데 강한 저항을 보인다.(홍준표, 1996). 아동이 보이는 이러한 저항을 보다 완화시키면서 아동과 의사 소통할 수 있는 많은 방법이 모색되어 왔다. 미술활동은 정서장애 아동들에게 자기표현 방법을 제공하고 소근육 발달과 시지각 발달을 도와 인지과정을 통해 어떤 대상의 개념을 형성하고 표현할 수 있다록 도와준다고 알려져 왔다(김정, 1980). 또한 Lowenfeld(1957)는 촉각과 시각이 지각에 영향을 미치므로 미술작업이 자기자기지각, 자아개념 등을 발전시키며 자신과 다른 사람과의 관계를 강화하는 수단이 된다고 하였다. 또한 Wadeson (1980)은 미술 활동을 자신의 이미지를 표현하는 비언어적 커뮤니케이션 기법으로 보고, 이 기법을 반복적으로 시행함에 따라 아동들은 언어적 이미지와 시각적 이미지를 창출하는 것이 가능하게 된다고 하였다. 즉 아동은 자신의 이미지 표현에 대해 두려움을 느껴 자기 표현을 거부하거나 거짓으로 자신을 표현하던 상황에서 벗어나 보다 명확한 자아상을 발견하여 정체감을 갖게 되며, 자기실현을 꾀하게 된다(권기덕, 김동연, 최외선, 1993). 따라서 다양한 미술활동에서의 표현은 자기성장에 중요한 의의를 가진다(이정인, 1991).

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to exarnine the effeds of art therapy on the self-concept of children wîth Behavior Disorders Reserch Questions were as follows: 1. How does art therapy influence on the self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders? 2. How does art therapy influence on the general self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders? 3. How does art therapy influence on the academic self-con cept of children with Behavior Disorders? 4. How does art therapy influence on the social self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders? 5. How does art therapy influence on the emotional self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders? The subjects of this study were fifteen children with Behavior Disorders in the institute of the social welfare located in Tae Jeon. Art therapymodel that Lee Keun Mae and Park Joo Yeun made in 1996 was modified and utilized for this study. Self-Concept Test made by I. S. Song(992) was used to see the effects art therapy on the self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders. Pre test scores in self-concept were compared with the post te5t scores in self-concept in this study. The results of the experiment Were analyzed using t-test The results of the study were as follows: 1. The self-concept of chiJdren with Behavior Disorders was significantly different between pre and post test(t=2.35, p<.05). 2. The general self-concept of children with Behavîor Disorders was significantly different between pre and post test(t=2.17， p<.05) 3. The academic self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders was not significantly different between pre and post test. 4. The social self-concept of children with Behaτrior Disorders was not significantly different between pre and post test. 5. The emotional self-concept of children with Behavior Disorders was significantly different between pre and post test(t=2.19， p<.05).
