마이스터고의 노동주체 형성기제에 대한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 수도권 대도시에 위치한 한라 마이스터고에 대한 질적 사례연구이다. 연구자는 푸코의 훈육과 권력의 개념을 사용하여 한라 마이스터고가 어떻게 학생들을 훈육시키고 학 생들은 학교의 훈육에 대하여 어떻게 반응하는지를 분석하였다. 한라 마이스터고는 학생들 을 취업이 잘되는 노동주체로 만들기 위해서 학생들의 몸, 행동, 지식을 특정한 방식으로 훈 육했다. 학생들은 더 나은 취업경쟁력을 확보하기 위해서 성적 경쟁을 하고 학교의 생활규 정과 지배문화에 복속했다. 학생들의 몸과 마음은 분류되고 위계화되었으며, 그들의 가치와 정상성을 판단하고 훈육하는 중요한 지식 권력은 대기업의 취업 조건이었다. 결국 마이스터 고에서 배출하는 노동주체 소위 마이스터란 지배규범과 지식을 비판적으로 사고하고 행동하 는 주체가 아니라, 더 나은 취업지위와 가능성을 갖기 위해서 잘 규제된 자율성의 원리에 따라 기업의 요구조건에 복속하는 주체였다. 하지만 소수의 성적 우수자들은 학교를 그만 두고 대학진학을 원했다. 그들은 학교와 정부가 강조한 고졸 마이스터로서의 주체지위를 거 부했다.

영문 초록

This study is based on a qualitative study of Hanla Meister high school, located in a middle class residential area of a metropolitan city. Applying Foucault's concepts, this research analyzes how the Meister high school disciplines students for future employment and how the students react to such school discipline systems. The school rigorously standardizes and regulates time, bodies and behavior of students. The internal features of students are also visualized, classified and managed through tests and norms. Major companies exercise significant knowledge power in judging students' normality and value. Students, competing each other to get better achievement, follow the rules and demands of the school in order to possess competitive superiority in terms of employment. The worker subject, disciplined by the Meister high school, is not a subject which develops critical thoughts about the dominant culture and norms but rather a docile subject that follows well the demands of large companies according to the well regulated liberty. However a small number of students quit the school to attend colleges. Such students resist against the subject position, high school graduate Meister, which is emphasized by the school as well as the government.
