현실불만형 무동기 범죄 수형자의 게슈탈트 음악치료 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 교도소 내의 현실불만형 무동기 범죄 수형자의 게슈탈트 음악치료 경험을 알아내고자 하는 목적으로 진행되었다. 연구 참여자는 교도소에 수감된 5명의 현실불만형 무동기 범죄 수형자로서, 10회기의 게슈탈트 음악치료 프로그램에 참여한 뒤, 심층면담을 한 1개의 자료와 경험담을 적은 3가지 다른 자료로 경험을 나타내었다. 연구자는 이 자료들을 수집하여, Giorgi(2004, 2012)의 현상학적 방법에 따라 분석하였고 그 결과 19개의 하위구성요소와 7개의 상위구성요소로 구조화하였다. 7개의 상위 구성요소는 ‘심리정서적 유익, 음악에 따른 연상, 활동에 연관된 음악외적 매체에 대한 영향, 성찰과 통찰의 계기, 사회기술 습득에 효과가 있는 음악활동, 집단 내에서의 갈등요인, 치료역할로서의 악기와 음악의 고려 점’ 등이었다. 이와 같이 수형자들은 집단 구성에서의 갈등 유발 요인인 세대 차이와 참여자들과 관련해 고려되어져야할 악기연주와 음악 등 일부 개선점들을 말하였다. 하지만 심리정서, 사회적 부분에서의 치료적 경험과 음악으로 인하여 연상되었던 좋은 기억들, 스스로를 알아차리는 기회, 싱잉볼 소리명상의 유익한 경험, 활동에 도움을 준 영상물에 대한 유쾌한 경험 등 더욱더 많은 긍정적 경험들을 보고하였다. 이 연구의 의의는 앞으로의 더 나은 게슈탈트 음악치료 개발에 유익한 자료로 활용되고, 교정시설 내의 치료전문가들과 교정직원들의 이들에 대한 이해를 확장시키는 데에 있다.

영문 초록

The study attempts to shed light on Gestalt music therapy practice of Social Discontent-type-criminals who committed crimes with unspecific reasons in the correctional settings. Data collection consisted of interviews with five prisoners and three other written materials about their experiences after attending ten sessions of Gestalt music group therapy. Using Giorgi(2004, 2012)’s approach to phenomenological analysis, seven domains and nineteen categories were identified. The domains of this study were: (a) Psycho-emotional benefits; (b) Association with music; (c) The influences of non musical media related to the activities; (d) The opportunity of the introspection and the insight; (e) The music activities to help them to have the social skills; (f) Intragroup conflict factors; (g) The consideration of the musical instruments and the music as the therapeutic roles. The results showed that some improvements needed to be made regarding the conflict arousing factors like the generation gap within the group, (and) the selection of music and the musical instruments for the participants. On the other hand the prisoners made more positive responses to their therapeutic experiences of the psycho-emotional and social aspects, the chances of self-reflection, the helpful experiences in singing bowl sound meditation and the pleasant experiences in videos watching which helped their activities. This study contributes to developing a Gestalt music therapy approach and expanding knowledge of this population for the therapists and officers in the correctional settings.
