장애아동 어머니의 미술치료사에 대한 경험연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애아동의 어머니가 장애 자녀를 치료하는 미술치료사를 어떻게 경험을 하였는지 그리고 그 경험이 가지는 본질을 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 장애아동을 양육하고 있으면서 미술치료를 6개월 이상 경험한 P시의 장애아동 어머니 6명, S시의 장애아동 어머니 2명 총 8명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였고, 이들과 각각 30~40분가량의 1:1 심층면담을 실시하였다. 본 연구는 그들의 미술치료사에 대한 경험을 있는 그대로 담아내기 위해 내러티브 탐구를 선택하였다. 그 결과 그들의 미술치료사에 대한 경험에 대해 16개의 하위 주제와 4개의 본질적 주제가 도출되었다. 본질적 주제는 <미술치료사를 붙들다>, <보이는 미술치료에 더 의존하다>, <장애아동 어머니는 준 전문가였다>, <부모는 역시 아이가 우선이다> 이다. 장애아동 어머니는 미술치료사에게 다양한 욕구와 미술치료과정에서 장애아동뿐 아니라 그 가족과 환경에 대한 돌봄 경험을 가지고 있었다. 이들은 미술치료 방식에 대해 잘 알고 미술치료사들이 회기마다 작품을 보여주는 것에 부담을 느끼고 있음을 언급하였다. 또한 미술치료사가 특히 장애아동을 우선으로 존중함을 경험하였다. 이 연구는 장애아동 미술치료사가 장애아동의 부모에게도 안아주기 환경을 제공해야 하고, 미술작품의 의미를 확대해석 하는 것을 경계해야 함을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This study set out to examine how mothers with children with disabilities would experience their children s art therapists and understand the nature of their experiences. For these purposes, the study selected total eight mothers that were raising a child with disabilities and had their children receive art therapy for six months or longer. Six and two of them lived in P and S cities, respectively. Each of them participated in a profound one-on-one interview that lasted 30 to 40 minutes. Narrative inquiry was employed to depict their experiences with art therapists as they were. The findings show that there were 16 subtopics and four essential topics in their experiences with art therapists. The essential topics include holding onto an art therapist, being more dependent on visible art therapy, mothers with children with disabilities as semi-experts, and parents always putting their kids first. They had various needs for art therapists and caring experiences for their families and environments as well as their children with disabilities in the process of art therapy. They had good knowledge about art therapy methods and felt a burden with art therapists showing them their children s works in each session. They also had an experience of art therapists especially respecting children with disabilities first. Based on the findings, the study proposed that art therapists should provide parents with children with disabilities with a hugging environment, work on consistent self-development, and be vigilant about their overinterpretation of meanings in drawings.
