국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구에서는 아버지의 양육참여와 유아의 자아개념이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 종단적 영향력을 분석함으로써 유아의 자아존중감 증진을 위한 기초자료를 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 육아정책연구소(KICCE)에서 제공하는 한국아동패널조사(PSKC) 데이터 중 2008년(1차)-2014년(7차) 자료를 활용하였으며, 연구대상은 6대 권역에 위치한 아동 964명이다. 아버지의 양육참여와 자아개념이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해서 잠재성장모델을 사용하였으며 간접 효과 및 직접 효과를 살펴보았다. 연구결과: 연구결과 첫째, 측정시기별 발달적 변화를 살펴보았을 때 아버지의 양육참여는 선형적으로 증가하는 것으로 나타나 선형변화모형을 선정하였다. 둘째, 아버지의 양육참여와 유아의 자아개념 모두 유아의 자아존중감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유아의 자아개념은 아버지의 양육참여와 유아의 자아존중감 간의 종단적 관계에서 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 유아의 자아존중감 증진을 지원하기 위해 아버지의 양육참여를 돕기 위한 방안 및 자아개념의 연속적인 측면에서 유아의 자아존중감을 살펴볼 것을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify change profile between fathers’ parenting participation, young children’ social competence and self-esteem, and to provide basic data for promoting young children’ self-esteem by analyzing longitudinal change profile. Method: For this purpose, 2008-2014 longitudinal data of PSKC provided by KICCE. The research objects were 964 young children from 6 regional area in Korea. To examine the effects of father s participation in parenting and self-concept on self-esteem, we used the potential growth model and examined the indirect and direct effects. Results: The results of this research were as follows: First, father’ parenting did not showed significant change and selected a non change model as it did not increased from time passes. Second, fathers’ parenting participation and young children’ social competence show significant direct influence on the young children’ self-esteem. Third, young children’ social competence is found to have partial mediating effects on the longitudinal relationship between fathers’ parenting participation and young children’ social competence. Conclusion: Based on these results, it was suggested to look into the self-esteem of the children in the aspect of consecutive aspects of the self-concept and the plan to help the father s participation in the nurture to support the improvement of the self-esteem of the children.
