대학박물관 관람객을 통한 지역사회 역할 증대

국문 초록

대학박물관의 박물관교육 역할에 대한 기대는 대학박물관이 대학 내의 학문적 접근성과 인력, 공간활용 가능성으로 인해 더욱 크다. 그래서 현재 문화체육관광부의 박물관 발전 기본구상 에서도 우리 대학박물관의 교육 관련 인력을 통한 박물관 인력 전문화 계획을 기대하고 있다. 즉, 대학 내의 인력, 전공과정, 교수 및 학습시스템 등 연계, 특성화 대학박물관을 지원하겠다는 내용이다. 하지만 우리 대학박물관의 현실은 다른 공·사립박물관과 비슷한 인력적, 재정적, 그리고 기반시설의 문제를 안고 있으며 대학박물관의 박물관교육적 역할은 정체성 확보가 부족한 상황이다. 일반적으로 박물관의 공공성은 지역사회(Community)를 바탕으로 한다. 하버마스(Habermas)는 박물관은 시민권력을 형성하고 합리적으로 이해도모를 할 수 있는 공론장(Public Sphere)으로 가능성을 논하고, 특히 교육을 많이 받은 인력이 형성한 공론이 대중의 의사소통을 위한 장으로 박물관의 역할을 기대하였다. 하지만 대학박물관 입장에서 설정되지 않은 지역사회 내의 정체성은 대학박물관의 교육프로그램 설정에 어려움을 가져온다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 대학박물관 입장에서 지역사회를 다시 해석해 봄으로써 대학박물관 대상 관람객의 다양한 유형을 설정하는 바탕이 되고자 한다. 환경적 분석보다는 지역사회 접근의 전환을 통해 지역사회 내의 관람객을 통한 대학박물관의 역할 증대를 기대하는 것이다. 박물관은 지역사회를 문화, 정치, 경제, 사회적으로 관련한다. 각 영역별로 다시 세분화된 지역사회역할로 해석한다면 일곱 요소가 된다. 즉, 지역사회의 문화보존, 자연 유산의 보존과 복원, 문화의 중심점으로의 교육지원, 지역사회 구성원의 삶의 질 촉진, 문화인프라 발전촉구, 문화시설을 통한 문화인프라 지원, 지역사회의 정체성 형성, 소속감이나 자부심을 부여하는 전통적인 가치 등으로 분류 된다. 이렇게 해석된 지역사회에 따라 대학박물관은 재학생, 졸업생, 교육인력, 행정인력, 지리적 지역사회 구성원, 제시된 지역사회 해석에 따른 유아, 학생, 성인 등을 대상 관람객 또는 교육 프로그램 참여자로 확보할 수 있으리라 본다. 대학박물관이 박물관교육을 통해 지역사회 내 잠재적 관람객을 확보하기 위해서는 지역사회의 다양한 계층으로 확대 연구함으로써 박물관교육 주제를 설정하는 근거가 있어야 한다. 그리고 대학박물관이 설립된 교내와 교외 관람객을 하나로 대상화함으로써 지역사회가 대학 외의 역할에서 확대된 개념으로 설정됨이 필요하리라 생각된다.

영문 초록

University Museums are expected to be counted as a strong educational institute because of their location within the educational environments. The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism report in 2012 regarding Museums especially analyzed further utilization of university human resources related museum, which implied human resources, specialized courses, faculties and lecture systems. In other words, once the university museums provides such sources, then the Ministry has planned supports as the specialized university museums. However, university museums had been suffered from manpower, financial issues and infra-structures as any other public and private museums in Korea. Not only these problems, but identity issue of university museums also caused problem developing museum education programs. With these difficulties of University Museums, they need to expand the range of visitors to promote museum roles in community. Therefore by defining university museums role in community, which will lead to expansion of various visitor groups, this research interpreted the community of university museums. Museums are culturally, socially, economically and politically related to community. Hence visitors are encouraged to visit specifically depending on their various university museums’ roles. First, museums is cultural centered to preserve and restore their community culture also natural heritage. as educational; second, to facilitate local residences’ life qualities; third, to support cultural infrastructures; fourth, to endow identity, self-esteem, and affiliation as community members as well as college students in a university and so forth. Visitors are subjected upon above various roles; children, students, adults, and college members as the university museums’ community members. The various roles are definitely planned based on each university museums’ mission. Therefore by interpretation of community role of university museums, this research present various visitor groups based on each community to increase the role of university museums.
