松菊里型 墓制의 檢討

국문 초록

일반적으로 송국리형 묘제는 금강중하류역을 중심으로 확인되는 석관묘ㆍ석개토광묘ㆍ옹관묘의 세트로서, 송국리문화의 대표 묘제로 인식되고 있다. 또한 송국리형 주거지의 분포와 동일하게 인식되면서 송국리문화권 전반에서 확인되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 송국리문화권 내에서 송국리형 묘제는 다양한 형태로 구분된다. 금강하류역은 벽석을 세로로 세운 석관묘(Ia형)의 밀집, 석재의 뚜렷한 정연성, 옹관묘의 밀집, 석관묘ㆍ석개토광묘ㆍ옹관묘의 강한 공존관계 등 송국리형 묘제의 특징이 가장 뚜렷하다. 반면, 금강중류역은 금강하류역과 함께 송국리형묘제의 중심지로 생각되어 왔지만 금강하류역에 비해 송국리형 묘제의 특징이 확연하게 감소한다. 금강하류역을 벗어난 지역에서는 Ia형 석관묘의 탈락, 옹관묘의 탈락 및 변형, 석재의 정연성 감소, 석관묘ㆍ석개토광묘ㆍ옹관묘 공존관계의 해체 등 금강하류역과 구분되는 다양한 변형 양상이 확인된다. 특히, 경기남부지역, 전남 남해안지역, 영남 북부지역은 송국리형 주거지의 분포권이지만 송국리형 묘제의 영향은 거의 확인되지 않아 양자의 분포는 일치하지 않는 것으로 생각된다. 금강하류역에서 송국리형 묘제와 지석묘의 관계 또한 기존의 인식과 달리 양자를 배타적으로 보기 어렵다. 금강하류역에서 두 묘제는 수량 차이가 거의 없고, 분포 역시 대부분 일치하거나 매우 가까운 거리에 위치한다. 또한 동일유적 내에서 공존하는 사례가 증가하고 있으며, 지석묘의 매장주체부로 송국리형 석관이 사용된 경우도 확인되고 있다. 무엇보다 무문토기시대 후기사회의 개별집단이 가지는 점유영역과 생활반경을 고려할 때 금강하류역에서 확인되는 두 묘제의 분포는 양자를 배타적으로 보기 어렵다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to maintain that Songgukri type burials are a specialized form of interment that was locally limited to the lower region of the Geum River and to examine the overall nature of these burials. The stone cist burial can be further classified, according to construction method, into those with walls formed by stacking stones in a vertical direction, a horizontal direction, or a mixture of both. Jar coffin burials are defined by their use of Songgukri type pottery. Although the southern region of Gyeonggi province, the southern coastal region of Jeolla province, and the northern region of Yeongnam province all belong to the Songgukri cultural area, the tombs of these regions demonstrate clear differences vis-à-vis Songgukri type burials, with the typical features of Songgukri type burials surprisingly limited. The Songgukri type burial assemblage was established in the lower Geum River region, but in the areas beyond, the burial assemblage experienced rapid disintegration, with the elimination of the IA type stone cist burial and jar coffin burial being representative trends. Especially in the case of the jar coffin burial, this burial type was not accepted in many different regions unlike the stone cist burial (in which case only the special IA type was not widely adopted). The logic behind this elimination or transformation was identified as being their differential acceptance within each region’s burial tradition.
