영문 초록

Object : The psychophysiological response patterns during stressful tasks, the differences o f those patterns, and the relationships among anxiety rating scales and psychophysiological responses in normal subjects were examined. Methods : In 46 healthy medical students, Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory before baseline stressful tasks, subjective units of distress(SUDS) just before baseline period, immediately after stressful tasks, at the end of the entire procedure, and psychophysiological measures, i.e. skin temperature, electromyographic activity, heart rate, electrodermal response during baseline and rest and two psychologically stressful tasks(mental arithmetic, talk about a stressful event) were evaluated. Results ： The recovery response o f skin temperature and electrodermal response during two stressful tasks and heart rate during mental arithmetic was significantly delayed. We found negative correlations between Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety and the startle response during mental arithmetic, between state anxiety score and the recovery response of heart rate and electrodermal response during rest after talk about task, between trait anxiety and the recovery response of electromyographic activity during rest after talk about task, and between SUDSs and starde and recovery response of electromyographic activity during mental arithmetic and during rest after the task. Conclusion : We found increased autonomic activity, and less and more delayed recovery than startle responses of heart rate, electrodermal response and skin temperature during laboratory stressful tasks in normal subjects. Future psychophysiological studies of more systematic and various methods on stress will be needed.
