영문 초록

This study was conducted to investigate the thyroid function of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder. Subjects consisted of 30 PTSD patients and 23 control patients who visited the department of psychiatry of Korea Veterans Hospital from March 1, 1991 to June 30， 1991. Controls consisted of patients with somatization disorder(8 cases), sleep disorder(9 cases) or personality disorder(6 cases). Authors studied the relationship between PTSD and thyroid function by measuring serum triiodothyronine(T3), thyroxine(T4) ，free thyroxine(FT4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and compared it with the data from control patients who also had had combat experiences. And we studied the correlation between thyroid function and Hamilton’s anxiety (HAS) and depression(HDS) scales.
