노래 부르기 방법에 따른 유아들의 음높이 정확도

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아들의 노래 부르기에 있어서 가사를 넣어 따라 부르기와 한음절(멜로디)로 따라 부르기 중 어떠한 방식의 노래 부르기가 유아들이 더 정확한 음높이로 따라부를 수 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 S시의 다섯 개 병설유치원에 있는 만 4, 5세 유아 192명이며 미리 녹음한 노래샘플을 듣고 유아들이 가사와 멜로디로 따라부른 것을 녹음하여 3명의 채점자가 채점하였다. 음높이정확도 측정을 위하여 Singing Voice Devleopment Measure(SVDM) 척도를 수정·보완하여 사용하였다. 두 가지 노래 방식의 정확도를 살펴보기 위하여 전체집단의 대응표본 t 검증을 통해 살펴본 결과, 가사를 넣어 부르는 방식이 유아들이 더 정확한 음높이를 낼 수 있었다. 연령별 차이를 보기 위하여 반복측정을 사용하여 살펴본 결과, 노래 부르기 방식에 있어서 연령별 차이가 있었다. 각 연령별 노래 부르기 방식의 차이가 어떠한지 살펴보기 위하여 연령별 대응표본 t 검증을 한 결과, 만 4세가 만 5세에 비해 노래 방식에 따라 정확도 차이가 더 많이 나타났다. 유아교육기관의 노래지도에 관한 교수학습방법에 있어서 기존의 방식을 다시 한 번 점검해 보아야 할 필요가 있겠다.

영문 초록

The present study aimed to investigate kindergarten children`s pitch-matching accuracy when singing with ``la`` versus singing with the text based on vocal modeling. The test was provided as a type of echo activity and the children followed the recorded music sample. Singing is the most frequent activity in the kindergarten music curriculum. However the majority of kindergarten teachers teach songs in limited ways. In order to introduce a new song teachers usually sing with ``la`` or ``loo`` first to help children accurately match the pitch. This study questions which would lead children to recognize and reproduce more accurately: singing with ``la`` or singing the melody. The participants were 192 children in public kindergartens in Seoul South Korea. The participants were 4 and 5 years old. Three raters assessed children`s singing according to the revised Singing Voice Development Measure rating scale. The correlation coefficient for the three raters ranged from r=.81 to r=.97. To analyze the differences between the two types of singing a paired t-test was conducted. The results indicated that children can sing with the text more accurately than singing with ``la``. Mean differences of 4-year-old-children are slightly larger than mean differences of 5year-old-children. The results provided the pedagogical implication for teaching a song to young children. Teachers may need to provide more varied and more appropriate approach to teach a song.
