영문 초록

The present study was attempted to analyze and evaluate the relationship beteen cigarette smoking and the other problem behaviors. This data were collected through qustionnaire survey. Subjects were consisted of 757adolescent delinquents, sampled from all subjects of eleven juvenile correctional institutions throughout the country using census method. Their age range was between 12 and 21. The actual number of cases evaluated in this study were 571 subjects (521 males and 50 females) The collected data were processed using the SPSS computer program and statistically analyzed by the Chi-square method. The results of the study are presented below: 1. Among the 571 delinquent adolescents, 63.4% (362 cases) experienced cigarette smoking in their life; 7.5% of experimented smoker, 14.0% of Ex-smoker, 3 .7% of current occasional smoker, while 30.5% of all cases (174 cases) never experienced cigarette smoking. 2. The rate of current cigarette smoking was higher in the males(43.2% ) than in the females(25.1% ) 、 and was higher among the Seoul dwellers (52.7% ) than the country dwellers (32.396) It is well known that smoking of adolescents is an outstanding indicator of adult statu s; behaviors. Smoking rate was on the increase in direct proportion with the rise of age. 3. The rate of current current cigarette smoking was higher among the subjects from nuclear family than those from extended family, and it was also higher in those who separated from their parents before puberty than in those who were living together. 4. Cigarette smoking was colsely related with destructive proness, but it was not related with anxiety proneness or depressive proness. 5. Current cigarette smokers were more inclined to commit other problem behaviors such as. alcohol drinking, drug abuse, running away from homes, sexual intercoursa, and self -injuries when compared with non smokers.
