고령 부모와 성인 자녀의 근접 거주가 손자녀 돌봄 및 첫 출산에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

손자녀 돌봄은 출산 후에만 관찰할 수 있기 때문에 본 연구는 1단계에서 고령화연구패널조사 2012~2020년 자료를 이용하여 자녀와 비동거하는 55세 이상 고령가구를 대상으로 실제 손자녀 돌봄 가능성과 고령 부모와 성인 자녀 간 근접성·만남빈도·상호작용항과의 연관성을 검증한 후, 분석 2단계에서 여성가족패널조사 2012~2020년도 자료를 이용하여 출산 이력이 없는 가임기간의 성인 여성을 대상으로 손자녀 돌봄 지원에 대한 기대를 근사화한 근접 거주가 성인 딸의 첫 출산 가능성에 미치는 영향과 그 한계효과를 분석하였다. 1단계 분석 결과 세대 간 근접 거주는 손자녀 돌봄 제공과 밀접한 연관성이 있으며, 2단계 분석 결과 40대에 비해 20대·30대 여성이, 경제 상태가 어려운 경우에 비해 여유롭다고 느끼는 경우, 월세에 비해 전세가, 점유 형태가 상향 이동한 경우, 부모와 딸이 근접 거주하거나 가까워진 경우에는 첫 출산 가능성이 증가한다. 반면 주거 면적이 85㎡ 초과에 비해 60㎡ 이하는 그 가능성이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 적절한 주거 면적과 주거 안정화를 위한 정책적 배려가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 아울러, 가족 간의 상대적 주거 위치는 손자녀 돌봄 지원, 출산 결정 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

This study used a two-stage approach because grandchild care can only be performed after childbirth. The first stage of the analysis analyzed the association between the possibility of real grandchild care and proximity, meeting frequency, and interaction terms using data from KLoSA from 2012 to 2020. The second stage analyzed the effect of proximity approximating grandchild care support expectationson the possibility of the daughter’s first birth transition using data from KLoWA between2012 and 2020. The results of the first stage revealed that intergenerational proximity was closely related to the provision of grandchild care. Meanwhile, the results of the second stage indicate that the possibility of transition to first birth increases for women in their 20s and 30s compared with those in their 40s, for women in comfortable economic situations compared with those in difficult economic situations, for women who live in jeonse compared with those who rent, when tenure status improves, and when intergenerational proximity is high or increasing. Conversely, the possibility of transitioning to first birth decreases for those living in homes smaller than 60㎡ compared with those in homes larger than 85㎡. Therefore, policy considerations are needed for adequate housing areas and housing stabilization. In addition, the relative residential position of the family plays an important role in supporting grandchild care and the decision to give birth.
