국문 초록

본 논문은 모래놀이치료 장면에서 융학파 예술기반 연구(Jungian Arts-Based Research, JABR) 방법을 사용하여 치료자-내담자의 병렬적 전이/역전이에 대한 앎(knowing)을 연구하였다. JABR은 기존의 예술기반 연구(Arts-Based Research, ABR)와 마찬가지로 다양한 예술기반의 방법을 활용하여 지식을 추구하지만 ABR과 달리 JABR은 무의식적 지식에 대해서도 같은 방법을 적용한다. JABR과 ABR은 공히 주체와 객체의 분리 패러다임과 과학적 증거 확보 방법으로 반복가능한 정량적 실험을 강조하는 기존 패러다임에 저항한다. 더 나아가 기존 학문체계와 다르게 일상생활과 연구의 통합을 시도한다. 그러나 ABR의 패러다임은 직관, 감각, 감정, 사고와 같은 융의 기능을 인간 이해의 방법으로 사용하면서도 무의식으로부터 발생하는 지식을 다루지 않는 한계를 갖고 있다. 또한 전이/역전이가 작동하는 경우처럼 두 사람 사이의 관계가 작동하는 방식에 대해서도 설명하지 않는다. 이에 반해 JABR은 지식의 본질 추구를 위해 사고 뿐 아니라 객관적이지 못하다고 여겨져 왔던 그러나 인간의 본질적 본성에 속하는 감정, 감각, 직관, 상상 등을 연구의 방법으로 사용한다. 여기서 예술기반 방법이라는 것은 바로 이러한 본성적인 것들의 표현방식이다. 더 나아가, JABR은 무의식의 존재를 전제로 한 무의식의 상징이미지를 예술적으로 표현하는 방법을 연구의 방법으로 사용한다. 전이/역전이에 대한 여러 가지 이론이 있지만 융심리학은 이에 대해 융학파적 동시성과 원형적 전이/역전이 개념에 근거하여 치료자와 내담자 사이에 병렬적 경험이 발생할 수 있다는 관점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구는 JABR방법이 모래놀이치료의 지식추구와 일치한다고 가정하에 JABR을 활용하여 모래놀이치료자들의 전이-역전이 경험에 대한 앎의 과정을 연구하였다. 모래놀이치료자인 연구자-참여자 8인이 참여하여 각각 한 명의 내담자를 선정하고(내담자와 보호자의 동의를 얻어 최소한의 정보를 공개함) 모래그림, 컴퓨터 이미지, 글쓰기 등을 예술적 창조활동을 하였다. 또한 연구 모임에 사이에도 이러한 창조 활동을 지속했다. 이 과정에서 치료자들은 병렬적 전이/역전이를 경험하였고, 내담자의 전이에 대한 이해를 향상시켰으며, 치료적 관계와 과정에 대한 이해가 향상되는 경험을 하였다. 그 결과로 내담자와 깊은 영적 교감을 경험했고 치료사가 잊은 트라우마가 선택한 내담자와 연결되는 방식을 확인했다. 이는 주체와 객체 관계의 동시성적 특성과 불이원성적(non-dual) 작용을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This article used the Jungian Art-Based Research (JABR) method for knowing about the parallel transference/countertransference between therapists and clients. Basically, Arts-based research is an approach that use various art genres to research but it does not mention about knowing of the unconscious. However, JABR is an approach to achieve ‘the knowing’ including unconscious knowledge although it uses the same arts-based methods as ABR. In addition, ABR resists the paradigm of the split between the subject and the object and the existing paradigm that emphasizes repeatable quantitative experiments as a method of securing scientific evidence. It also attempts to integrate daily life and research. However, the paradigm of ABR is that it uses Jungian functions such as intuition, sense, emotion, and thinking as a method for understanding of human and does not address knowledge from the unconscious. Here, arts-based is the way that those instinctive aspects are expressed. Nor is it concerned with how a relationship works between two people as in when transference/countertransference works. Therefore, JABR is a broader approach that pursues the knowing essential. In this article, eight sandplay therapists participated in and each selected one client (with the consent of the client and guardian, and disclosed minimal information), created sandpictures, drawing, painting, computer imaging and writing (Sandplay is one of the arts-based methods.). Therapists also did these creative works between sessions of symbols encountered synchronistically in daily life. In this process, the therapists confirmed parallel countertransference and transference and realized where it came from, had more knowledge about how the therapeutic relationship and process was working. They experienced deep spiritual communion with their clients and identified the ways in which the therapist's own forgotten trauma was connected to the chosen client. This shows the phenomenon of synchronicity in the relationship between research non-dual way of working between subject and object and the workings of non-duality.
