국문 초록

다양한 건축 기술의 발달로, 도시의 수직성이 실현되었고, 상하의 공간위계는 특정 사회의 계급 구조와 맞 물려 도시 공간을 재조직하는데 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 이러한 수직적 도시주의는 기존의 수평-수직, 상층-하층 과 같은 이분법적 구도에서 벗어나지 못 하였고, 지상-지표-지하 공간 간의 상호 연결성에 대한 논리도 충분히 밝 히지 못 한다는 한계를 가진다. 따라서 본 연구는 도시의 수직성이 작동하는 원리로서 모빌리티를 결합시키고, 이 러한 모빌리티의 실현이 공간층화를 야기하였다는 것을 증명하고자 한다. 즉, 도시는 인간의 모빌리티 욕구를 충 족시키기 위해 땅 아래로 또는 땅 위로의 이동을 가능하게 하는 형상으로 발전하여 왔다는 것에 착안하여, 3차원 화된 도시의 역동성을 탐색하는데 목표를 둔다. 이를 위한 본 연구의 사례 분석은 공간층화 방식으로 이루어지는 지하철 개발의 여러 개발안들과, 이로부터 층화공간에서 매개되는 이동성에 주목했다. 특히 1920년대부터 제기 된 서울의 지하철 개발안이 1960년대와 70년대 초 다변화·구체화되며 국내 최초의 실현 노선인 지하철 1호선에 이르는 과정, 그리고 이에 관여하고 연루된 도시 행위자들과 시공간적 맥락을 탐색함으로써, 교통 인프라로서의 층화공간이 도시에서 구성하는 이동성을 규명하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The emergence of diverse architectural techniques has facilitated vertical urbanization, wherein the spatial hierarchy of upper and lower levels, in conjunction with societal class structures, has significantly influenced urban space reorganization. However, this vertical urbanism has been limited in its ability to transcend existing dichotomies, such as horizontal-vertical and upper-lower relationships. Moreover, it has not fully illuminated the logic underlying the interconnectedness of ground, surface, and underground spaces. This study examines the dynamics of cities by integrating urban verticality with mobility as a fundamental operational principle. The research demonstrates how the emergence of mobility has catalyzed a process of spatial stratification, whereby cities have evolved into configurations that accommodate movement both below and above ground to meet human mobility requirements. To achieve this objective, the case analysis focuses on various opinions for developing a spatially stratified subway system and the mobility patterns facilitated by such stratified space. Specifically, this study examines Seoul's subway development proposals from the 1920s through the diversification and concretization of transit lines in the 1960s and early 1970s. Through an exploration of urban actors and their spatial and temporal contexts, this research aims to identify how transport infrastructure, as stratified space, constitutes mobility within the city.
