국문 초록

[연구목적] 이 연구는 미국 대입제도의 최근 동향, 특히 홀리스틱 입학사정 방식을 중심으로 분석하고, 이를 통해 한국 대입제도 개선을 위한 정책적 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. [연구방법] 미국 대입제도의 변화 동향, 홀리스틱 입학사정 방식, 테스트 옵셔널 정책의 확대 등과 관련된 문헌을 조사하고 분석하였다. [연구결과] 미국은 학생의 다양한 역량과 잠재력을 종합적으로 평가하는 홀리스틱 입학사정 방식을 확대하고 있으며, 표준화 시험에 대한 의존을 줄이는 추세를 보이고 있다. 이러한 접근은 교육의 다양성과 공정성을 추구해 왔으며, 동시에 운영 상의 과제도 확인된다. [결론] 홀리스틱 입학사정을 통한 학생의 총체적 역량 평가, 표준화 시험 활용 방식, 고교 성적 신뢰성 구축, 대학의 자율성 및 책무성 확보 등의 측면에서 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

[Purpose] This study aims to analyze the recent trends in the U.S. college admissions system, focusing particularly on holistic admissions practices. [Methods]The U.S. is increasingly adopting holistic admissions practices that comprehensively evaluate students' diverse abilities and potential, while simultaneously reducing reliance on standardized testing. Although these practices promote educational diversity and equity, they also present certain operational challenges. [Results] The study conducted a literature review and analysis of the changing dynamics in U.S. college admissions, focusing on holistic admissions practices, the expansion of test-optional policies, and other related aspects. [Conclusion] The study discusses implications for student assessment through holistic admissions, standardized test utilization, the establishment of high school grade reliability, and the enhancement of university autonomy and accountability.
